Hey guys, thought you might be interested to take a look at the Famulator Famiclone that's recently cropped up for sale in Japan for around 3000 yen. Here's my opinion of it.

Sweet looking clone! Loooove the aesthetic of the classic Family Computer.

While I'm not at all above using Famicom clone controllers (and those look very nice) I wish it had the increasingly standard NES control ports.

Nice review!

I'm glad you feel that way as I completely agree. The Famulator is a BEAUTIFUL Famiclone, by far the best looking one I've seen.

I can't speak highly enough of its controllers. They are very comfortable and put many other Famiclone controllers to shame.

Still if you don't like them or in your case would rather simply use an NES pad, the DB-9 Famiclone standard has been documented by nesdev, so it is possible to build an adapter to use standard NES controllers.

As well, the new stock Mayflash NES/SNES Controller to Wiimote adapter now come with a DB-9 to NES 7 pin adapter. I've ordered one of those and when it arrives I'll let you know how well theirs works.

Oh, wow, that adapter looks neat. The patch cord part anyway. Let me know how it works on any manner of Famiclone that it may fit in!

Great review!! The system is lovely looking indeed, and might be the most attractive clone I've ever seen. Too bad about the lousy lack of NES or Famicom controller ports, though. I am more turned off by that than the vertical lines and sound issues. As far as clones go... WHAT!!! You have the Power Pak!!!! Oh my gosh!!! You've got all kinds of goodies on your youtube channel, dontcha? I'm subscribing and taking a look.

Did you do a review of the Power Pak by chance?
