Greatest Hits, Player's Choice, Platinum Hits, Classic Series, or any others?... What examples are there where this re-released version offers more than the original?

I recently picked up Twisted Metal: Black Greatest Hits that has the online play bonus disc, which as I understand the original release did not have. It is the only game I can think of that is like this, but I'm sure we can come up with some more.

Fable: The Lost Chapters was an enhanced version of Fable released exclusively as Platinum Hits. There are also a few games that featured bug fixes in their GH releases. Mortal Kombat Trilogy, for instance.

Yes, and oddly without all the slowdown that the Xbox version had. Also:

Devil May Cry 3 (PS2) - whole slew of new things!
Chrono Cross (PS1) - ending song is localized into english

The Platinum version of Soulcalibur III fixed the horrible "Chronicles of the Sword mode save randomly corrupts itself if you do something heinous like play another game" bug.

Chrono Cross (PS1) - ending song is localized into english

WHAT?!?!? I never knew that. I guess I'll have to grab a Greatest Hits copy now.

Is it subtitled, or actually sung in english?

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution on PS2

Dammit, that was my pick. Sad face.

The game of the year editions of Fallout 3, Oblivion, and Modern Warfare included all the DLC and sundry for a reduced retail price. In that same vein, the Gears of War Triple Pack had gears one and two, including DLC, for thirty bucks.

Here are some other ones:

-Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Edition (Xbox 360): Has every single car pack released as DLC on Xbox Live except for the Community Choice car pack. Also has some bonus (exclusive) cars, extra tracks, and some Top-Gear stuff.

-Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (PS2 only): Originally the PS2 version of this game was released in a standard edition and a special edition. The special edition had three extra Classic mode maps to play around with (and some other things I can't remember). When T.H.A.W. was re-released as a Greatest Hit on the PS2, Activision decided to re-release it with the extra content included from the "special" edition, kind of following what Rockstar did with Midnight Club 3. When I bought the game at Gamestop, I grabbed the original version case and they gave me the GH disc! One of the only times where I didn't mind getting the GH disc and the black label case.

-Call of Duty 3 on the PS2 had a "Special Edition" as the GH re-release. Not sure what it added though. I know it must of came with a bonus DVD or something, but I only have the game only.

-Fable II also has some extra content on its Platinum Hits re-release.

-Mass Effect (the original) comes with the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC and a bonus DVD disc in the Platinum Hits version.

-Uncharted 2: Game of the Year Edition has all of the currently released DLC plus a crapload of bonuses.

-Burnout 2 on the Xbox (as the "Director's Cut) and the Gamecube both have lots of extra content over the PS2 version, the most notable being more Crash Zones. Obviously these were added since Burnout 2 came out on those systems later than the original PS2 version.

-Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 on the Gamecube has an extra two levels: Venice and Greenville.

-007 Agent Under Fire on the Xbox/Gamecube has up to 4-player split screen support as well as AI (Computer) Bots in multiplayer. The PS2 version didn't support AI bots in multiplayer/split-screen at all.

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 Greatest Hits added the option of having the Japanese voice cast. Also added a few new costumes and a few animation changes.

If you count ports then nearly all of Sega's re-releases of DC titles on the GC count. (SA1, SA2, PSO, Skies of Arcadia etc)

Sonic Mega Collection comes with 6 extra GG titles on the PS2/XBox.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon on the Wii has an extra character.

A lot of GOTY editions come with extra.

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (PS2) comes with extra content. Though it doesn't look as good as the GC original.

Wow, there are lots more than I would have expected! I wasn't really putting ports and GOTY in this category. The whole point of GOTY editions as I understand them is to include extra content, so they kind of go without saying. Ports seem like they have extras most of the time, too.

Looks like the earliest I'm seeing that did this would be GH on PS1. Did any DC All-Stars have extras? What about 8 bit or 16 bit? Did Sega even have a 'best seller' line before DC?

They sorta had one on the Genesis - the Sega Classics line.

I believe that it's actually sung in english. It's been many years for me, so maybe someone with more recent experience with this game can comment about it.

Jet Moto 2's GH version alters the game; it has fewer racers, but a higher (and consistent) framerate. It also gives you immediate access to everything that had to be unlocked with the original version.

One or both of the Strike games (Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike) had toned down difficulty and various fixes when they were rereleased as Greatest Hits.I'd be interested to hear which one. Soviet is tough as old boots game (on Saturn anyway) and has bonus content over the original PlayStation version [2 new weapons - Anti armor missile & twin 40mm autocannon plus Multiple Difficulty Levels]. I assume that the later GH version of the PlayStation game incorporates these features although I cannot be sure not being able to get a good look at rear case art for GH (same for Nuclear). Awesome games all the same.

And the Sega Gold Collection/Sega Platinum Collection series for the SMD in Europe.
