People seemed to like the Megaman documents so I thought I would try this again. This time with Sonic the Hedgehog.

All licenses (such as Milton Bradley) are given the Sonic bible giving a bit of history on the character and a set of guidelines to follow. Here is the cover and the first two pages.

These are the early designs of the Sonic the Hedgehog board game. Now I do not own the board game so I am not sure how close these are to the final release. These sheets are large and could not be scanned.

Yeah sorry for the poor images, these sheets might be too big for my camera.

How many pages is it? Does it follow localized names or the originals?

Very cool, I like how they took the 2D side scrolling game concept and pretty much used the same designs for the board game. I didn't even know there was a Sonic board game. I should check that out. I take it that there is probably more than one of these bible things, for each business partner?

From the looks of this yes. It would have been sent to anyone who would use the Sonic image. I have a later edition (that one came with Sonic Aladdin lunchbox material) that comes in a hard cover 3 ring binder book and so I suspect they did update this every couple of years.

Do you mean the bible? There are about 30 pages in the bible.

Not sure I follow you on the rest of your question.

I think NayusDante is wondering which region the character names used in the "bible" are consistent with. Judging by the fact that the second paragraph of the page of scanned text mentions Dr. Robotnik, I would assume NA lingo, but I'm honestly not sure what else could be different.

I'd be fairly interested to see the contents of the bible sometime if possible. I'm sure others would be too.

I've never seen "wannabe" used in the first person before, interesting.

They shouldn't have used "wannabe" like that. It's a noun, not a verb (yes, I realize it's slang, but still).

I really want to incorporate "berserk-o" into my vocabulary, haha.

HEY!

What are you looking at, peon? Don't bother telling me if we've ever met before - I don't bother remembering shave-skin, pinhead norms like you. What's that? You don't know how great I am????? Lemme tell ya, bub-o, and you better listen up real good!

First, I'm not a hero, SUPERhero, or anything of the sort - I'm the blue bahomet, pure and simple. Worship no other, and think of me if I let you tuck in tonight. Just kidding - it's totally cool! Unlike those jealous cultists over at the plumber's shop, I'm here to force everybody to agree - being EDGY is cool! Whoa, I just turned some monsters into fluffy bunnies! EXTREME, DUDE. I'm an awesome rebel and that means making everybody at Sega USA wear really stupid shoes, manufacturered by our friends at Swumco International (made in lovely Indonesia...man, nothing gets me running fast like that hot Tails Satay)! Don't even think of pirating my games or even importing copies of Shining Force because, even though I'm a totally radical rebel, I retain a highly professional and sizable in-house counsel on IP matters.

Second, about my speed. Talking about it would be slow and slow bores me! I'm fast, because something about my system has to be. Programmers here gotta love that 68000 assembly...they're "gluttons" ...for speed! Oink! (RANDOM PIG NOISES) How did they do it? (MORE RANDOM PIG NOISES) RADICAL NEW COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY (c. 1979)

And last but not least, my hair. It's...well, I'd like to see you get a perm with disc brakes and blueberry pies and see it come out just one sixteenth as fractionally fabulous!

And now you better start buying my shit. See ya in the Vid-Game Heroes Graveyard, Suckers! Hey, don't you try to put moves on m-

[19:95] Sonic took a ride on Ranger's rocket.
[19:96] Ryoko Hakubi: I'll be taking that, thanks.
[19:97] Sonic: AGH MY BLOODIED SKULL WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY HAIR.

And then Sonic was a robot.
