View Full Version : WIW: Large Lot of loose NES Games (300+)

I'm thinking about selling off all my NES games. Now that I have a PowerPak I really don't need the physical cartridges anymore (other than maybe Castlevania 3 and a few odd games that aren't emulated properly). If I were to sell these in a large lot, what could I expect to get? What about if I break them up?

Most if not all of them are in good shape. I think there are three or four that have a name written on them in marker or a cruddy label, but they were fairly common games anyway IIRC. About a quarter of them have manuals as well, I need to make a list of which ones though as I don't remember off the top of my head.

Probably $500-$1000, maybe more. I would highly recommend cherry picking out a lot of titles to sell individually. I'd say which ones but I don't really have time right now.

You might be right on that. I know which ones are worth the most (the Dragon Warriors, and a few others). I might sell those individually and sell the rest off in bulk.

Agreed. Pick out the cherries and sell the rest in bulk. I'd recommend breaking them into lots that fit into Flat-Rate Boxes.

As far as I can tell, the most expensive carts are:

Contra Force
Dragon Warrior III
Dragon Warrior IV
Gargoyles Quest II
Tengen Tetris
North and South
Teenage Mutant Turtles III
Wally Bear and the No Gang

The rest are in the $15 or less category.

Contra cracks 15 most of the time I thought. You can also do bundles like Contra w/ Super C, or Castlevania 1, 2, 3 together, Double Dragon 12, maybe a Donkey Kong bundle (Classics and Math go for a bit). A Mega Man bundle would do well. Maybe check on Rad Racer II and Metroid, don't know where they are at now. Amazon was giving a lot for Metroid for some reason.

Good to know. Thanks. I haven't actively collected NES games in a long time so I don't know what the current trends are.

You probably won't even need to bundle the CVs and DKs. I would look at every black box game's value too... the way complete copies are going these days, I wouldn't be surprised if most are pulled above that $15 bar...

Also, that Goonies cart is an easy $15, maybe $20.

These are the ones that I would cherry pick and split from the group selling individually or as a bundled series (with the exception of Contra Force). You can also bundle similar games (Tetris/Dr. Mario/Yoshi) as those tend to do well, and you could also do an unlicensed lot as well.

Not just a junk filler lot, this has some solid fun titles in it. I'd think that Port's estimate is spot on, you'll do well with these.

I found an interesting site that had a good (in my opinion) rough estimate of the game values. It's not perfect, but I was finding that it lined up fairly well with what ebay was charging. It's a good starting point anyway:

So far, you've gotten some good advice. I will add a little, if I may...
If you sell all of it at once on Ebay, all of it tested (I know, ugh), all of it seperated except the really low-enders, you'll be amazed at what combined shipping will do for your totals. I always try list list multiples of the same system's stuff when I can. It's a lot more work, but it gets results, especially with the cherries in your collection. Sometimes it can get crazy because of that, and with that many good games, some of it will get crazy. Just an example:
I was watching a bunch of Sega CD auctions. Same guy had about 80 listed, all stock photos, none specify manual, case or no, and he never replied to my emails. His feedback was so-so, 200ish, but not a recent seller. He got $17 for Star Wars Rebel Assault. Others went for more than they should have as well. Next time you see an auction on Ebay going for WAY more than it should, look and see if the seller isn't doing this.

I'd like to avoid ebay if possible. I hate selling there, nothing but problems. Besides, I trust the people here and on AA, I'm less inclined to trust people on Ebay.

Gotcha. Ebay is a pain in the ass. Good luck on your sale, you got some chase titles there for sure!

If you want to sell these I need some games to put with my systems. Depending where in Michigan you are I could pick up too.

I'm in SE Michigan, about 30 north of the border.

I'll probably offer these up for sale in a giant lot at first and see if anyone wants to bite. If not I'll piece them out a bit. I probably won't get to this until around Thanksgiving though.

I'm about 50 south of the border so we're close. I was talking about all of them. Just keep me in mind when you're thinking about getting rid of them.

Added two games (Festers Quest and Little Nemo) and added the manuals. I have 66 manuals, more than I thought.
