"Corpse Party is one such horror experience. It plays out like the best of Japanese horror films, locking your nine main protagonists in an inescapable, otherworldly school building where vengeful spirits seek to end their lives in the most grisly, inhuman ways imaginable – all the while directly infiltrating their minds to drive them to paranoia, madness and suicide. The longer your characters stay in Heavenly Host Elementary School, the more utterly exhausted, certifiably insane and ravenously hungry they become, causing students to turn against one another, resort to cannibalism, hang themselves or simply suffer nervous breakdowns. Death is inevitable.

Any hope of rescue becomes less and less likely with each passing second, causing some to resign themselves to their fates and simply accept the first chances at sweet release that come their way – which usually take very unpleasant and deeply disturbing forms."

Is this a download only release?

yeah its psn only, i wouldve loved a umd copy but this is the only way it could be released. it also has the original japanese dubbing with translated subs.

its recommended to play with headsets because of the way the sound was recorded, something about 3d sound using a certain method i havent heard of before.

This looks like a direct descendent of Sweet Home. I'm game.

Anybody know when the official release date is?

Gosh...I told myself I wasn't gonna buy any new games this month but first Otomedius and now this. There really is a lot of great stuff coming out this month. I wish I had time to play it all!

This does look interesting, there really should be more creepy, true horror RPG games.

Kind of lame that it is PSN only, but it is better than not getting released at all!

Wow. I was put off by the name but the actual game looks pretty cool.

It's actually a remake of a game from 1996.

It looks good, but it's too bad it's only coming out on PSP as I don't have one. Thankfully it has 16-bit 2D styled graphics, most 3D stuff looks ugly to me.

got this from xseed this morning:

To all of you party people out there,

Hope everyone had a good Halloween and Día de los Muertos! However, don't think you're out of the scary season just yet. We are pleased to announce that our adventure horror title for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Corpse Party, will be bringing its particular brand of undead terror exclusively to the PlayStation®Network on November 22nd, at a bare-bones price of $19.99. XSEED Games has also unearthed a new Corpse Party web site which can be accessed at www.corpsepartypsp.com.

Corpse Party is rated MATURE with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content and Strong Language by the ESRB.

I appreciate what XSEED has been doing with their PSP offerings, but I don't think $19.99 for a sprite based downloadable PSP game is "bare bones priced". Maybe I'm just too old and cheap or something, but I'm not paying that for a low budget PSN game. Hell, I still see hard copy releases of decent budget games for 20 bucks.

$19.99 seems a little high, but as soon as it drops I will be purchasing this, it looks awesome.

I wonder if all these Xseed PSP games will be available for Vita?

Ditto. If so, I wonder if xseed will price adjust up or keep it at this level.

At $20 I'd expect to get a boxed copy... Oh well, I'll probably still be buying this one

We'll have to wait and see. Pretty crazy that almost every single Xseed published game is something, that I either already have or want to play at some point, and it's pretty much the most wanted stuff. Didn't even first realize some of them are published by them. I hope they keep doing what they are doing, I gladly pay for digital releases if that's only reasonable way to localize these games in the future.

No interest in a PSN release, really disappointed it won't get a physical release.

Anyone get it? I just finished the main endings line last night, it's pretty good and unique at the very least. If you like weird Japanese stuff coming over, I suggest picking it up.

Also it's got some comedy mixed in with the horror, mostly in the first chapter. Here is a link to a few screenshots I took (mostly of the girl obsessed with butts): http://puu.sh/aecU
