Issue with Atari 5200 2 Port

Hello all. :)

I from time to time take out a console just to mess with it for few days. Well, last night my 2 Port 5200 was doing something odd. For some reason, NONE of the fire buttons were working on any of the joysticks I was using. I had/tested 4 5200 controllers and one of the Competition Pro Y things and none of them would work. Well, everything worked but any of the fire buttons.

I know the 5200 has it's flaws and hiccups, but has anyone else experienced this or know what is causing this?

Were you able to test both controller ports? The upper and lower fire buttons are read by different chips, the only common between them is they share the same ground. If you have only tested one port, I would check that the ground pin isn't damaged (pin 15). If neither button works in either port... that would be very odd.

Yeah, I checked both ports and none of the top and bottom fire buttons work on any of the 4 controllers and the Y-type one. This is an oddity to say the least.
