We are having a little tournament series. It is called "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade for Modern Consoles" or TGNRMC for short.

How the tourney period works: Two games will go mano-a-mano per thread with people voting for their favorite. The winners of each bracket will face off against the other winners in the following brackets until only the winning "champion game" remains.

The rules: There will be one tourney match per day until a final winner is decided. All "champion games" are ineligible for future "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade" tournaments.

This thread is for voting between Space Harrier and Kung-Fu Master.

Space Harrier. It could be closer to Planet Harriers in graphics, and I'd like to see the P Dragoon-style 'total cockpit' gameplay with that kind of speed. The dragons could make coils around you, fly past you... perhaps even allow you to actually control your course, so you would have to chase things down tight corridors and like like. The speed of the original needs to be present, but amped way up. Different weapons, armor, levels... A lot of what we saw in Planet, but in a DVD case instead of the garage. And of course, Online Multiplayer.

Kung-Fu Master (or Kung-Fu for the NES). The game is timeless. Freshen up the graphics a bit, do a few different takes on the theme song, create new enemies, throw in some characters other than Thomas (maybe a few video game celebrity guest appearances ala SMB Crossover), add a bonus game or two, and I think the game would pop.

VOTE and determine the winner!

Comparing the originals, I personally like Kung Fu Master better. But as far as a remake goes, Space Harrier has more to work with.

Sorry, but Kung-Fu Master bored me. Gotta go with Space Harrier.

Eh, Harrier's been done. I'd be intrigued to see what new and interesting things could be done with Kung-Fu Master, really.

I vote for Kung Fu Master.

I dig Space Harrier, but that's at least had a few sequels and updates where Kung Fu Master is a classic that has largely gone untouched.

Plus, there's a shortage of games where you get to punch/kick midgets these days.

Come on guys, Spartan X 3! Just think, a modern beat 'em up with 1980's Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao!

You also have to remember that Kung-Fu Master / Spartan X was kinda like, the first beat 'em up game ever.

But then, that's not exactly something particularly well-suited for the general market.

I voted Kung Fu Master. The graphics are the only thing in Space Harrier that shines in my opinion. Not a fan of shmups and Space Harrier is one of my least favorites.

Neither. While I would love a new Space Harrier sequel, the original has no need for a remake, and was already remade once anyway (with meh results). Kung Fu Master, I have no particular desire for.

Very cool, but that still makes less than what Space Harrier has had.
