I believe it has to do with the delay the game had in europe.

Could be people are importing from there.

Those prices aren't going to hold. This isn't retailer exclusive and it's not really very limited. Gamestop made it available again on their website in both versions as did Amazon for the 360. This will likely be like the last two limited editions for MGS 4 and Peacewalker that were GS exclusives and actually could be purchased below MSRP for months after release. The prices rebounded eventually, but there was plenty of supply to go around for a while.

Nope.

Although it is a 250 page art book that actually looks like a 30 dollar book rather then the 8 paged POS that you usually see in editions like this.

Personally I'm more psyched at getting a copy of Peace Walker that I will (probably) be able to reliably play people online with. The game was really fun but i always felt like I was missing out a bit part of its "character" by not having anyone who had to game to play with.

I believe the standard edition is $50 and the limited edition version is $60, and it comes with an artwork book. I think the only way you're gonna get the limited edition copy is if you pre ordered it at Gamestop or maybe if someone doesn't pick up their pre order copy? It's going for like $130+ from these assholes on ebay.

Amazon sold out finally last night. Gamestop.com still has the 360 version available and there is a $10 off coupon, so there's that option if you are ok with the 360. Gamestop may also be getting more in as they did with Dark Souls a few weeks back, so if you want a PS3 version, you should check their site from time to time.

Europe/North America: MGS HD Collection has MGS2, MGS3, and Peace Walker.

"Special" Edition:

Japan: "Premium Edition" comes with an art book, soundtrack, premium packaging/box art, and other goodies like head phones and bags for people who pay more.

Europe: "Ultimate HD Collection" comes in a steelbook and in addition to the games comes with MSG4, a download voucher for the PS1 Classic version of MGS1 and 5 art cards, PS3 exclusive.

North America:"Limited Edition" comes with premium packaging/box art and the 250-page artbook.

Frankly unless you really wanted that steelbook and/or art cards the European version (at 65 euros) seems like a big waste to me considering how the PS1 download of MGS1 is 10 bucks and MGS 4 can be had for 15-20 bucks easily but its metal gear swag and I would probably jump on it if i didn't already have the MGS4 Limited Edition. :P

Euro also has to wait until next year, also note if you're in the EU I think the 360 version is region locked so importing an American one isnt much help to you unless you have an NTSC 360.

If you want the box art and art book it is.

Its 30 bucks over the 50 dollar price tag for just the game itself so its really up to you weather the extra's are worth 30 bucks to you. I've seen some unboxing videos and they all show that the art book really is a a substantial hardcover book rather then the 10-20 pages uselessness that is crammed into most special editions. On the same hand you can get all 3 games (along with the MSX MG and MG2:SS) for just 50 bucks so again up to you.

The Japanese version has more swag but is in Japanese and even if their is a language option it still does not include Peace Walker in the package. That combined with import fees make this not worth it for me.

As Emuaust has said the Euro version is being released significantly later and again unless you want the steelbook it also seems like a waste considering the individual cost of each game. In addition you also have to take into consideration again shipping fees for the import of a title that is already sitting at 65 euros (or 88 US Dollars). If you really want MGS2, MGS3, PW and MGS4 along with a download voucher in a nice case then sure this is the package for you.

Waltzed right into my GameStop and picked up the US version today. Gent at the desk indicated that he had a few b/c the recent Call or Duty or Modern Warfare (whatever was released last week) overshadowed interest in MGS to an extent.

Point being, should you want one of these you don't need to go to FeeBay just yet.

Yep, there were copies at several local Gamestops as of this morning here in the Los Angeles area. If you want one, you can still get it for MSRP.

You can... assuming the GS monkeys don't lie to you and say that it's reserved (well over a week after release), just so they can buy it and flip it. I wouldn't say this if I didn't experience it trying to find a copy for a friend.

I'd like to point out that the Ulitmate HD Collection is limited to 4k world wide. Each will be numbered. It is an exclusive to Zavvi. Yes the content isn't anything ground breaking, but it will be a highly rare collectable. Europe will also be getting a Limited Edition that is identical to the one NA got.

Damn, I forgot this was coming out or else I would have pre-ordered a copy or two. People always go a bit crazy on MGS LE's.

My local GS is reporting that they don't have a copy online but I'll try the store when I go later this week. There's a store in SC that has a copy and I'll be there next week for Thanksgiving. Might try to get one then, if anything just for a personal copy.

I'm guessing Wal-mart may have a few copies too. I'll check there as well.

I am not whining, just pointing how the only chain monopolizes the prices because there is no regulation. And with the free trade agreement between the USA, Canada and Mexico we should have better prices on stores, online stores are apart.


For instance .... the first day the MGS HD collection regular edition was $699 ... and the LE was $1199 ... the next day they raised the price with no announcement and no way to get them respect the original announced price LOL
