yeah, the art style. id love a super mario that looks like a cartoon or storybook come to life. cel shaded would be nice too. ive always thought the wind waker treatment would fit mario to a T.

I'd love to see that too. Have you checked out Wario Land Shake It for the Wii? It features hand drawn characters, and it's probably the closest we're gonna get for a while...

I've been keeping an eye on this game for a while. I saw the ign review on you tube and your right dairugger it is gorgeous. It's nice to know it's not a dumbed down kids game either. Just when I thought the wii was done with quailty platformers this falls out of the sky. I will be grabbing it on launch day.:onfire:

I just saw a commercial for this, it came out of nowhere to become my most anticipated game this year. You can keep your COD, Battlefields or whatever else, this 30 year old wants to play Rayman!

So I've played through the first few levels (thanks Amazon release day delivery!), and this game is goddamn amazing. The animation is incredible, the control is perfect, and the humor is delightful. Also, the soundtrack? One of the best of the year.
I don't often do this, but I think I'm going to evangelize this one to friends and family. I have Skyrim and the MGS HD Collection sitting on my table unopened, but I think I'm going to spend my day off playing this.

I received this and Otomedius Excellent yesterday and am pretty blown away by the graphics. I've yet to seen anything that isn't bathed in a healthy amount of frames and polish. The gameplay seems pretty standard so far, but I've barely scratched the surface.

I know unbelievable and I don't like rayman but this one was worth every penny.

The controls are interesting: there's a bunch of stuff you can do that provides options, but you aren't necessarily required to do: sliding down hills, holding your hands up to make a platform for co-cop partners, the running spinning attack, etc.
My girlfriend and I have been playing this every weekend, and it's awesome.
IF YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT THIS GAME AND YOU LIKE 2D PLATFORMERS, YOU ARE A MONSTER.

I downloaded the demo and loved it. Can't wait to eventually get the full game. I wish the CE wasn't exclusive to Europe. Sigh....

Amazon gave me that art book with the game. It's pretty great.

I just picked this game up after reading all the high-praise reviews. I read on some other board that the game hasn't sold too well. If true, that's a real shame. Ubi shouldn't have released it during the Christmas stampede.

Same here... thank you Amazon lightning deals! Around two of these high quality 2D games a year seems like a good balance in these 'modern' times. I hope you all bought King of Fighters XIII too!

I just picked this sucker up yesterday at Best Buy for $20, price matching the TRU deal. The game is a visual tour de force and I love the platforming, but I'm finding the control to be a little too loose. A lot of precision and timed jumps are extremely difficult, and I often feel like Rayman is sliding around. Hopefully I can adjust.

I felt the same way, but adjusted with time. Even re-playing SMB 2 and 3 recently took some practice getting used to the controls. But for Rayman, some slipperiness comes in handy during the speed running.

I found the control to be spot on. In fact, going back to games like NSMBW and Donkey Kong Country Returns, I was asking myself "Why can't these control like Rayman?" It's captivated me like no game has for nearly 10 years. I'm speed running, I'm collecting LUMS I'm playing with my wife, my father, my kids. It's great, go out and get it!

Any noticeable differences in controls between the 360, PS3, and Wii versions? I got the PS3 version.
