We are having a little tournament series. It is called "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade for Modern Consoles" or TGNRMC for short.

How the tourney period works: Two games will go mano-a-mano per thread with people voting for their favorite. The winners of each bracket will face off against the other winners in the following brackets until only the winning "champion game" remains.

The rules: There will be one tourney match per day until a final winner is decided. All "champion games" are ineligible for future "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade" tournaments.

-----

This thread is for voting between Metal Storm and Double Dragon.

I think a sequel or remake of Metal Storm (NES) could kick all kinds of ass.

Double Dragon needs to be remade, and soon. I know we got Double Dragon Advance, but a true next-gen beat-em up with HD graphics would be amazing. It could be hybrid 2D and 3D stages, have an 80's-inspired videogame soundtrack. Add in a few special moves, and you could have a classic on your hands.

Much like Pac-Man Championship Edition, this could bring back great memories and give us a brand-new game to enjoy.

VOTE and determine the winner!

Metal Storm! I used to have that game as a yout', then I sold it so I could buy Phantasy Star 2. Good times. Difficulty on some levels frustrated the bejeezus out of me at 8 years old, but I played it again recently and it was a freakin' breeze.
Always loved the "flip" gameplay mechanics though.

Wow. What a decision. My heart says Double Dragon, but my mind says Metal Storm.

I could never get into Double Dragon but I have very fond memories of renting Metal Storm not knowing what it was and then thinking it was the coolest game ever.

Easy Metal Storm! I never have liked Double Dragon.

A remade/reimagined Metal Storm strikes me as being a far more interesting possibility than the same treatment given to Double Dragon. A visually updated Double Dragon with new moves and a throwback soundtrack would be cool, yeah. Metal Storm, though, as a 3D action platformer paced like the original with gravity flipping intact and stages that take advantage of it, now that to me sounds special. Disastrous and disorienting, maybe, but special.

I'd say both would be a bad choice. But choosing one I'd choose Double Dragon.

Both the NES and arcade versions of Double Dragon are two of the best beat em ups of all time. It'd suck for the games to be remade and then ruined.

Metal Saga would be a decent game if not made by Irem. I've always disliked Irems action or shmup titles because they are always more about memorization on what's going to happen next and less about skill. Makes their games more frusturating than fun.

The theme song alone still moves me to this day.

Double Dragon has sequels and updated versions (SNES, GBA, XBL, etc.)

I've only seen and played one Metal Storm and I love it to death. I'd say it's my favorite NES game. So yeah, I vote Metal Storm.
