Welp, yesterday I switched out the PCB in my main arcade machine from Street Fighter II to P.O.W. for a change of pace.
'course, once I got the SFII completely removed, it became clear that actually screwing the POW in properly was NOT an option- Different sizes, awkward positioning, waaay too much effort to continuously keep removing / reinstalling, so, I just kinda leaned it against the back of the case and plugged it up, hehe.
In theory, I intened to add some sort of mounting mechanism to every unused wall and space inside that cabinet, in hopes of having 3 or so spaces that a PCB could be solidly installed to... much easier to switch them if all you need to do is plug in a different one.
On to the game (Which, I've played before, of course, but it's just new and different when it's in your living room, hehe). I've only actually given it a few rounds, due to frustration and a sore wrist, but, so far:
Pro:
I really really wanted a side scroller
Beat 'em ups rock.
I rather like the NES version
WEEEE, more PCBs!!!!
Difficulty setting dip switch
Con:
OMGWTFBBQ, this thing is hard.
It's pretty hard.
Even if it doesn't eat a TON of quarters, it *feels* like it does 'cause your guy screams and gets knocked across the screen roughly every 4 seconds.
Somewhat challenging.
A bit repetative
Not quite enough interesting elements- New enemies, cool weapons, nothing like that really
Welp, that's my take, and I'm open to any memories, tips, stories, tricks, and "Hey, BillyJoe's Pizza down the street used to have that!" tales that you might have!
