Hey All,

Okay, first let me explain what it is I'm trying to do. Some of Game-Rave's (my website, www.game-rave.com) more popular features are where I do comparisons of PSX and Saturn versions of the same game. Currently, I would play one version, and then try and mimic the movements in the other while recording.

I then had the idea of being able to play both consoles at once, with one controller. I'm not sure if you could just solder wires from one controller to the other, or if you would need a third controller wired to a board that is wired to the other two, or wired to the other two's internal boards. The end result I'm looking for is that I'd be controlling the same game, across two systems, with one controller.

(And yes, there would be two tvs, running one system each)

What would be the best way to go about this? And who could actually do it for me, since I can't solder for anything? :)

Thanks!
Jason

You could, Technically, build an arcade stick with double throw push buttons. Theoretically that should work, although I've never seen one before.

You can forget about wiring one controller to the other CAUSE the Saturn and PSX controllers have IC's. If the two controllers interact, even if unplugged, you get funky results (erratic commands) So unfortunately you have to keep the circuits separate. A NEOGEO Controller is a different story though...

I agree with isufje. What you're trying to do isn't as simple as it sounds. I would suggest asking over at http://shoryuken.com/

It's totally doable, but I'm almost certain you'll find it becomes unplayable VERY quickly... as any single difference (game randomness, or even just slight difference in speed of play) will cause them to get out of sync.

I did this with a Virtual Boy controller... playing the same game on two same systems hardly worked. I can't imagine different (ports of) games on two different systems would work well.

hmm you should pick up one of these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arcade-Stick-Saturn-Playstation-PSX-PS1-PS2-Joystick-/170676426309?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item27bd1b9645

You can only use those on one system at a time.

Someone posted footage a while back of the original SMB and SMB from SMAS being played simultaneously with a modified controller, and even that didn't work very well.

If that stick is like others with a DB-15 plug where the system specific cable plugs in, it's as simple as getting a DB-15 spliter to connect a PSX and Saturn cable at the same time.
