View Full Version : TGNRMC - Zombies Ate My Neighbors Versus Shenmue

We are having a little tournament series. It is called "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade for Modern Consoles" or TGNRMC for short.

How the tourney period works: Two games will go mano-a-mano per thread with people voting for their favorite. The winners of each bracket will face off against the other winners in the following brackets until only the winning "champion game" remains.

The rules: There will be one tourney match per day until a final winner is decided. All "champion games" are ineligible for future "THIS GAME Needs to be Remade" tournaments.

I think I am the only one in this world that thinks this. But I feel Zombies Ate My Neighbors needs a remake. Bring it up to fps status. 2nd person. 3rd person whatever.. Full 3d nice graphics. I personally have been told I am crazy for it but I could actually see it being a serious game vs the comedy style game even though I know thats what made the original a classic. But come on who wouldn't want a level where your creeping along a hedge maze and then all sudden some maniac with a chainsaw just cuts right through and chasing you and when you think hes alone another cuts you off and you get that feeling of "shit what do I do?!?!?!" Or out running giant sand worms (tremors style).Only thing that would have to go is the giant baby. Outside of that do it up.


Shenmue - With today's graphical capabilities, living the everyday life of Ryo could be more real than ever before.

Pronlem I have here is that Shenmue isn't even that old yet and still looks and plays good. Zombies, however, would make a great game to redo if done right. No weird overly done CGI Cinema's, just enough to progress the story along. It still need sthe same feel as the original. I'd take it for sure.

I picked Zombies even though I really liked Shenmue more as a game, for prettymuch this reason.

I voted for Zombies Ate My Neighbors because it's a more fun game, though it kind of was remade if you count Grabbed by the Ghoulies on Xbox.

ZAMN definitely....and wow, that boxart rules! can you take a high quality scan? I actually need a new label for my cart and would love to make one with this artwork!

I would have gone with Zombies, but then I remembered that a game called Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia sort of is a modern remake. That game wasn't very good, they should try again with it.

Anyway, Shenmue was GTA before GTA was popular. Plus, with all of the Sega re-births coming out, it would fit right in.

Gotta go with Shenmue. If they give it a large budget, they could create a huge city where you can go do lots of "ordinary" stuff. Maybe halfway through the game you purchase a car to reach parts of the city you couldn't reach before. The original Shenmue was ahead of its time, but now the time is perfect.

The Zombies box is official but for some reason is a bit hard to find. Late release or early release I am not sure. One was just featured on Gamesniped.com.

I assume the cartridge that came in this box then features the other artwork? Ive never seen a cart with that art on the label....

I have seen 3 or 4 of these boxes but never a cartridge with this art. So really I can't say for sure but from the looks of things no it had the regular artwork.

ZAMN, but not in a serious way like mentioned in the OP. Shenmue is fine as it is, other than needing an ending.

Shenmue. Add better textures, more stuff to do, fine tune the gameplay to perform better.

If Sega does an HD rerelease even that'd be fine with me.
