At the pcenginefx.com forums, they'll frequently have free raffles for games - usually nothing fancy (although sometimes very fancy), just something to do for fun.

So, with the pcenginefx.com forums down, I thought it'd be fun to do the same thing here. Up for raffle is one copy of Bonk's Revenge. The game is loose and only comes with the plastic sleeve. The game works fine - I've beaten it myself. I'll also throw in one of the two stickers in the second picture - either (A) the horizontal colour tg16 sticker, or (B) the vertical black and white sticker.

RULES

You must love the Turbografx-16
You cannot already own the game
You must have joined the forum November 1, 2011 or earlier
You must have a post count of at least 100 - no garbage posts (if I don't recognize the username, I'll check recent posts)
The raffle ends next Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 10:00 PM Atlantic time (9:00 PM Eastern)
Shipping is free anywhere in Canada, USA or the United Kingdom - I'll ship the cheapest method possible - it's coming from Canada so may be slow. No bitching :)

HOW TO ENTER

Post in this thread. Your must post something that you like about the PC Engine / Turbografx-16 / Duo, or any other NEC hardware (Supergrafx, PC-FX, etc...). In your post please confirm whether you'd like (A) the horizontal colour sticker or (B) the vertical black and white one. If you don't specify, I'll just pick one.
If you joined before November 1st and have the requisite post count, I'll write your name below. I'll draw the name randomly next Sunday and announce the winner!

What do I love about the TurboGrafx-16? Well, I like a lot about it. I admire how a system with an 8-bit CPU can make games that look games look so good. Its library is awesome, and it did CD gaming very well. Though the US release of it was mishandled by NEC, a lot of good games did come out here. Of course, the PC Engine library is one of the best in gaming history and I keep finding fun games to play.

Oh, and the TurboGrafx-16 compared to a PC Engine is hilariously oversized, a testament to America in the late 80's/early 90's. :p

I would like the vertical black and white one. What are those stickers from, are they custom made?

I like that the TG-16 is sort of an oddball system. I don't know anyone personally that has one besides me, and only a handful have ever heard of it.

I'd like the horizontal sticker.

I loved being blown away by how advanced the games looked compared to the NES, and how gory Splatterhouse was for the time.

Alien and Devil Crush. Fantastic games on the TG-16, any my favorite reason for having the system.

I'm game!

The TG-16 is quite a quirky system and has some awesome shmups. Shame that the games are so hard to find for it!

Also, this is an awesome idea for the forums coolb33r!

I was lucky enough to pick up a SuperGrafx off Craigslist quite some time ago. It came with Daimakaimura which plays great even though I suck at it. I also find the supergrafx design to be cool and kind of funny. It is so mechanical looking, like it could be an auto part or something. I guess I could go on, but lastly the Hu-card is just a damn cool format. Much more elegant than big bulky carts (though I love those, too).

I dig the horizontal sticker (A).

Sure, I'm in. Sounds fun.

What I like about the TG-16 is how it fits right in between 8 bit and 16 bit...how it's both and neither, and gives the games a completely different feel than other systems. I also like introducing people to it the system. Most have never heard of it, and those who have usually only have a vague recollection of it and are exited to play.

For me I love the tg16 because it's different. The look of the cards blew my mind when I was young. Going from carts like the NES to the slim small carda was awesome. Thek actually playing the games and seeing that they were the same graphical quality made me wonder why the SNES cartridges were so big.

I'm like some of the other here and like how they used the cards and managed to get all that info and better looking games into something like that to me is amazing for the technology at the time

I'm in!

I love the TG16 because aside from my obvious favorites as Devil's Crush and Military madness, it has the best Tennis game for any system out there with World Court Tennis. And I don't even like sports games. :)

I like the horizontal one.

I've loved the tg-16 since it first came out. Loved the games for it and still have one but not Bonk's Revenge. Always loved Bonk. In a class by it's self. wish they still made games for it. Always have fun when I play my tg-16. I like the squareish sticker myself. Reminds me of when it was sold. Ah glory days! Great idea and thread!

Something I really liked about the TG16 was the capacity of the Hucards themselves compared to those on the SMS. SMS cards were "simple" by nature, while hucards we artistic-ly superior: graphics, sound, gameplay...you name it.

I specially loved the remake of Wonderboy III...plays just as perfect as its SMS counterpart while improving on many elements of the original. Man I love that game. :)

I have fond recollections of the Turbo Express...playing it in junior high school thanks to a buddy of mine. Bonk's Revenge was actually the first game I played on it, followed by Devil's Crush. I loved it so much that the TG16 was my first "obscure" gaming system. I never did get Bonk's Revenge, though I did get Devil's Crush and Alien Crush.

Also, vertical logo is winrar.

Well if it's free, I'm game. The TG-16 has some fine fine games for it, Gradius, Parasol Stars, the 3 Bonk games, Parodius, Detana Twinbee (ok last 2 are import), plus the CD addon has some awesome stuff like Super Darius 1, Rainbow Islands, Super Raiden, and a near perfect Gradius 2. I once had a friend (who passed away a couple years ago) who was the only person I knew who had a TG-16. We'd play his brand new SNES awhile, then I'd get tired and ask him to fire up the TG-16 for some Bonk action. Wish the syetm had lasted longer and had more games, it was really a phenomenal system for it's time.

My two favorite things about the TG-16 are finding the system, with CD add-on complete in the hardcase after buying out another collector, and he hadn't even listed it among the items in his collection...and of course, hours and hours playing Military Madness. And I 'm a horizontal sticker kind of guy....thanks!

Well I do like the TG16, it had a lot of potential especially if you look at the PC Engine library. Even though it wasn't as powerful as the SNES, there were tons of amazing games such as the Bonk series, YS II+III, Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu, Dragon Spirits, Ninja Spirits and so on. You should also check out the comparison with Ghouls and Ghost for the Supergrafx vs Genesis/Megadrive. It is too bad that Strider wasn't released for the Supergrafx. NEC/Hudson should have pumped out more Supergrafx games. Well Bonks Revenge is my favorite Bonk game and I played it a lot on an emulator. I would love to win a copy of this game. That black and white TG16 sticker looks rad so I would live to win that too. Any how many thanks for hosting this c0ldb33r and goodluck everyone

Awesome way to pay it forward! I've only recently become a PCE/Turbo fan but I'm loving some of the crazier stuff that's out there. Mainly play PCE since the games are cheaper, but I did finished the first Bonk so the second one would be cool to play as well. I'd say the vertical sticker though, because I could also use it as a PC case badge :)

I'm sure I don't have enough post counts, I normally just buy stuff from this site, but I have to say something anyways.
My Duo + Gain Ground & Castlevania = music in my head for days.
It's love.
If I can figure out how to hook up speakers, and a portable power supply to my Duo, then tape it all to my head, I'm throwing away my ipod.

Count me in! I own a Duo, Express, and regular ol' TG-16. I particularly love the Duo from both a design and functionality standpoint. Also, being able to play many of the same games (chip card ones anyway) at home and on the go was pretty much unprecedented at the time. NEC's foray into the gaming world deserved to go a lot better than it did, at least in North America. Getting the urge to play some Devil's Crush and Nectaris now!
