Watch this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=FfDoR_9mc6A#t=186s) and go to 3:04 to see the game in question. The game is a Ninja-esque Zelda style fixed screen adventure that, I'm guessing from the icon in the bottom of the screen, was a Famicom Disk System game. Any and all help in putting a name to this game would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

The game is Nazo no Murasamejou (Mysterious Murasame Castle) for the Disk System. A pretty hard game, but a good one.

The boys at the crime lab came up with this:

The game is Nazo no Murasamejou, which is translated into English as Mysterious Murasame Castle. Rather than rehash what the all mighty Wikipedia had to say, I will provide a link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazo_no_Murasame_J%C5%8D) to their entry instead.

LOL... I just played this game yesterday. Received two copies of it the other day and was testing them. Were you looking to procure the game - I obviously have a duplicate?

It's my favorite FDS game. I don't think many people know it, but it's a Shigero Miyamoto creation. It's what Zelda would have been like if it were an arcade-style action game, and it's got some elements of exlporation as well.

It's also possibly the most violent first-party Nintendo release ever, at least until Metroid Prime or Smash Bros. came along. I can't think of another game by Nintendo where you go around slashing up ninjas with a samurai sword.

Awesome, essential game that the West totally missed out on. Get it if you can!

...and don't expect to breeze through it. From the 3rd level on the game gets impossible. Memorization and a lot of luck are key. You'll be playing the same levels over and over again for about an hour until you get it right.

Did Miyamoto work on that one?

He's not credited as the director or lead designer.

Also, it is a fun/common FDS game that anybody who has a working FDS should give a go.

Youre right. I could be wrong but the developer is Nintendo EAD. That team historically was run by Miyamoto while R&D1 was led by gumpei yokoi. Those were the two in-house teams at nintendo at the time. It doesn't appear that shigero was directly involved, but his team may have been. (see the wikipedia article; can't provide link. I'm on my phone.)
