View Full Version : Trying to remember a game...

Hi all,
I remember a fair few years ago renting a PS1 game that I enjoyed, but can't remember much about it at all. All I remember is that there was a female protgagonist, dressed in green with brown(?) hair - a British accent I think, and fought mainly with a sword. I do believe there may have been some magic involved, but I'm not 100%.

It was sort of a dungeon crawling type game, although it had an air of role-playing. For instance, there would be an area with a minister who wants you to find a book for him, but it isn't necessary to the game's story. The focus was on combat, which included REALLY slow moving zombies. It had a pretty spooky air to it.

The plot itself I can't remember, but for some reason I'm thinking it was actually a post-apocalyptic-future type deal, despite technology and everything being pretty much a dark ages/medieval aesthetic.

Anyone remember the name of the game or anything? It felt like something Edios would publish, but looking at their wiki article it doesn't appear so...

Cheers!

Deatthrap dungeon perhaps?

Cheers, this looks pretty familiar! I'm not 100%, but it does look a lot like it although I seem to remember it being a lot darker, and without the choice of a male character. Could be that my memory isn't serving me the best, however.

The game you're thinking of is Excalibur 2555. I only remember it because Gamefan seemed to be the only magazine that gave it coverage at the time. Never played it so I don't know if it's good or bad.

Haha, these are my favorite kinds of threads to read (and make). It amazing that the internet can sometimes be put to good use.

C'mon, that's undeserved. For those on the "guessers" side, these threads are a good time and a fine opportunity to put that deep interest in a subject to use. Questions like this are a positive thing.

I like when people ask questions like this, too. A little chance to help someone out and play detective.

I immediately recognized the game from the description, I've played it within the last few months. I was on a roll playing PSX games recently, beating Apocalypse and Akuji and couple of others, but this one made me give it up for a while. The combat is just too hard and unpredictable to be fun. Well, actually I went from this to Chronicles of the Sword, which is the worst adventure game I've ever played, and the combination of two bad choices in a row made me give up.
