Not officially confirmed, one of the GiantBomb guys just posted about it on GAF and it's been blowing up Twitter:

It's with a heavy heart that I share with you all the passing of a great friend, and one half of Buckner & Garcia, Gary Garcia. Please keep his family and Jerry Buckner in your prayers during this difficult time.

His last public appearance was on the Big Live Live Show to show off "Found Me the Bomb", which now is apparently the band's final recording.

Ffuuck. Gonna do the donkey kong in tribute.

Not funny dude.

R.I.P, I love Pac-Man Fever, E.T. I Love You, and their EP Now and Then. :(

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh, it's not like I made any kind of gesture that I was somehow celebrating his passing.

Just a joke. No malice intended. No need to derail the thread over it.

Since it wasn't clear:

I do share in the collective mourning.

I enjoyed the catchy novelty rock of B&G in my time.

I had their Pac-Man Fever LP which got heavy rotation in my early music collection and I was saddened to hear the news.

I don't understand how this is any better than what Frankie said.

So much for forum in-jokes...

Whenever a celebrity dies and someone makes a thread here, someone always replies with that line. Even he jokes about it.

As someone who has dabbled in writing some video game related songs (and would just love to release them someday), sad to hear this.

One half of the duo who did Pac-Man Fever and other videogame-related songs like Do The Donkey Kong.

Sure it is a little.

It's just a joke and I doubt it was meant to be disrespectful.

Who's next, Abe Vigoda?

I think that hes going to outlive me and I think he's 40 years older.

Why is it I can't remember the tune to this song?

I remember it coming out and getting a lot of airplay as well as publicity but I can't remember how it goes. Everytime I think of it the Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" melody comes to mind.

Please note that as I write this, I have yet to hit YouTube.

Never heard of him. About an hour of Youtube videos makes me wish I had heard of him before now.

"Cat Scratch Fever"

M-m-m-mousetrap, mousetrap, cheese was the bait,
Won't somebody help me before it's too late?
The hawk is upon me and the cat's coming too,
I'm caught in a mousetrap, now what will I do?
