Has anybody had any luck with N64 protos recently?

When you did get your hands on them how much did you have to pay for them?

They are very clearly much harder to get than SNES protos and time will tell if they are as tough as NES.

With such a small library they may end up the toughest to track down of the Nintendo cart protos.

yes.. was about to say that..:-)

I was in a good "N64 proto find mood" last half year.
got about 5 new ones.

My titles:
Wreckin ball
World League Soccer
Nuclear strike
Top Gear Overdrive
Road Rash
Destruction Derby

and 1 other. Not verified yet what game.

Yes but whats the going rate of N64 protos amoung collectors these days.

Has the fall of NES protos affected N64 protos?

well... like SNES protos, no one really wants N64 ones...

Nespit

well.. i am not too sure about that.. N64 proto's r very wanted if u ask me.

There r a LOT of n64 collectors. And as N64 lacks obscure stuff and only has the demo cartridges and prototypes and REAL collectors items, they r wanted.

I'd just like to know if a Harrier proto ever surfaced...that game looked like it was gonna be cool.

Yeah I wouldn't say that N64 protos were unwanted.

Certainly they are in more demand than a typical SNES or Gboy proto. In fact with the recent price decline in NES protos one may even go so far as to say that a released N64 proto would sell for MORE than a released NES proto.

Things may change in the future , but for now at least, N64 protos are pretty rare.

n64 protos seem to be extremely hard to find to me. i haven't had the opportunity to buy one yet (except one from an unserious seller). i would say they are MUCH harder to find than NES protos, maybe because the system isn't very old yet and definitely because of its small library. i think they will be in high demand when the n64 is older.

as far as i know they have been more expensive in the past. i have seen them go from ebay for 200+.

The last one i bought was a bargain though.

But ADAM, list ur stuff..:-)

i also heard that the carts were pretty expensive, so companies were probably more strict about getting them back from magazines, etc.

Nespit

Yes True. and they could be used again. So most companies had very strict procedures about gettin them back..:-)

I think the problem with N64 protos is that the carts are used multiple times...

Instead of putting together a new cart for a new test (or burning and soldering new eproms to the old board)
You can just pop your already existing cartridge into a nice slot, flash it with a new beta/proto...

So... when a company gets a game back from a magazine, they game gets killed and replaced with a newer test version... and evt. sent back...

Also, I guess these carts are expensive, so I guess most companies was very strict with getting'em back

Hey Niels, I'm sure I've already told you about mine, but here we go again:

Top Gear Hyperbike (very early, features a dinosaur driver)

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 (final?)

And on top of that, a N64 Dev Kit. (and 64DD dev kit)

I thought that N64 proto was really cool. But wouldnt spend 150 on a system I HATE!! But I though that adam's auction told us that they're really isn't a wide group of people that want N64 protos.

Buyatari

well it is really hard to say.

1st off you can't list is as a proto because Ebay will pull it and you can't judge a system by 1 auction.

What if it wasn't a sport game?
What if it was relisted in 3 months?

But you are right there aren't alot of N64 collectors. Still, there are less N64 protos than the number of N64 collectors.
