Just thought I would ask how everyone found their way to the Digital Press site? Also, How long have you been here?? I found it while searching for a video game price guide in yahoo search engine. I think at the time it was only price guide I could find. This was 5-6 years ago and I pretty much visit the site at least once a day usually more than that.

How about the rest of you???

For me it was CGE (I can't remember which one: CGE99 or CGE2K). I ordered the price guide and bought a couple back issues while I was there. The price guide took a long time before it was shipped (nearly a year) so while I waited I would check out the web site. I wasn't a regular visitor until about a month ago when I joined the forum.

Honestly, I don't even remember now! It's like I've always been here. (To everyone else, that probably translates to "it's like your weird Uncle Earl is over at the house, and he won't ever leave!!") LOL

Good question.. I really don't know. Haven't I always been here? In fact, who am I? AAAAAAAHHHHH!

P.S. I think it must have been mentioned some other message board that I was on or something. Probably the VGB message board, come to think of it. Wow. That takes me back!

I found this weird (sigh) fake prototype of Pitfall III for the VCS back in 97 or 98 or something. The casewas Very craftily done and the rom board was a broken Pacman. I heard Joe Santulli was a good contact to consult on this, as I was relatively new to seriously collecting at the time, so that's how I found the site.

My friend Dana is the one who found it. He found it at a yard sale on the way to work one day and nearly had a heart attack handing it to me (we worked at the same place). He wasn't nearly bright enough to fake this thing, so I will always wonder who did, and when. You see, this yardsale was in front of a trailer park. People set up their yard sales by the front of the complex near the road, so unless I went knocking on doors, I would never hear the story behind it. The people who sold it to him were really old, so they didn't know anything about them when my friend asked where they got it. I've got picks and the original email to Joe hanging around somewhere if anybody wants to read it...I'd love to hear your input on this cool fake.

I began hanging around the forum, however, a year ago...dunno why...prob because I already knew the site and started surfing it because I, like the rest of us, am a collector....maybe because I ordered a DP guide...dunno.

I was looking for places that sold classic nes games on yahoo and I guess the wording I used brought up this site. I clicked the link and never looked back.

It was in someones sig on the GameFAQs super nintendo message board. I tried it out on a whim and later found out that this was a much better site to talk about old games that GameFAQs.

Waitaminit... don't we KNOW who created that fake Pitfall III? It was LORE item in DP Guide 5 or 6! Or was that a different fake?!

I found DP at CGE 2001. That year I bought a few systems and found the booth, and I think I got a business card or something and it reminded me to check the site when I got home. I've come back and forth, but didn't really get into the boards or anything until about April this year. And the site has gotten exponentially better all the time. I use that word because I was taught it in math class, and I wanted to try it out. :D

DP guys, please keep up the good work, and I'll stay to witness it! :-D

word of mouth from my (slightly off) cousin who lurks on the ign boards. She knew my passion for the "Old crap" as she puts it and saw the link and told me about it. now I'm here.

If you're wondering (no clue if any of you go on IGN boards) her name is Archan, same as my email since I paid for the damn thing. I should really move it off that since I barely check it anymore.

I was checking where the hits to my website were coming from a few weeks ago and I noticed that someone had posted about the Austin Gaming Expo and my event there.

I really can't even remember myself. I would assume I got the link from Retrogames at one point or another (one of the many emulator sites I hung around at)

I don't remember if it was from a post on the rec.games.video.classic newsgroup or from Collector's Closet in Tips & Tricks. I bought the guide first, then came to the site and forums. I've never been to a site that has such genuine people with this level of maturity (in most cases! :-D ) Most game forums are full of pre-teen fanboys who can't spell or form complete sentences. Others are full of know-it-alls who don't want to do anything but show off by trying to make you feel stupid.

One of my buddies was looking for complete system release lists and found it, then promptly told me about. I've since become addicted to buying games.

Thanks a ton guys.

I do believe I was scouring the net for info on PC Engine games, and this site came up a lot of times.

I had been surfing the Wet and Messy site and recoveringmodel.com site and found a link there.

Now, in my inbox each day, all I get are ads for digital press.

That was a different one, Joe. If you want, I can resend all the info on it.....very strange fake....the casing is very good...you can tell someone did it on a typewriter (nothing modern like people fake nowadays..it was a fake before fakes were, um, popular). and it was"written" by Carol Shaw, who as I understand was David Crane's good friend....some say contributed a very large amount to River Raid.....so the casing would lead one to believe that there "coulda been."

I was searching on Google for help with my (completely in japanese) Action Replay for Saturn. The guy who sold it to me on EBay had promised me that it included ram, but I couldn't seem to make Metal Slug work with it and, thanks to some help from Raedon, Kid Fenris, and Tempest I found that...

.....i had been gypped. But oh well. I've been at Digital Press ever since (minus a two month hiatus that ended about three days ago), andI have vowed that I'll use it to learn all about videogames so that I'll never be gypped again! HA ha!

somewhere in the late 90s, i had picked up a webtv and went poking around online to learn more about my growing yardsale game collection. i found this place and read some articles then moved on. back then RGVC was the real deal for games and i made a few local contacts thru there, thats a newsgroup btw although its turned into a junk board. i started hanging out with joe g. and whenever we made a roadtrip i'd always pour over his early edition dp guide. eventually he ordered the newer guide and due to some situation or other he ended up getting a 2cnd copy for free so i got it off him. then i took the time to read the lore and other details and decided to give this place a 2cnd look. i was loathe to "join" any group but i put that aside and signed up...many 100's of posts later here i am, had the pleasure of meeting many posters personally (and even dragging a few here). i guess the climax of all that was having mr.space fury himself over for a trademeet, my wife was even slightly impressed, alas i failed to get an autograph on my guide.
