I had a subscription to Nintendo Power early on starting with issue 20, up through probably 60. The magazine was great with no complaints up until vol 31 (Castlevania IV) where they added all the comics (which now I think are okay, and that the magazine was still good). Hell, I now think the magazine was still okay up until that 75th or so issue when they completely changed the look. At this point, the mag was more of a rag hehe. I picked up a recent issue from this year (most recent issues I have prior to this are 80, 93, 100), and the magazine really sucks! However, since I bought a GBA and GC....I subscribed to this sucky mag. It was $20 (with a free strategy guide which costs $15 anyways...so $5 for a year)...and even though I doubt I will use this magazine for tips since it just seems to be a magazine full of full page ads and screen shots disguised as reviews (aka more advertising)...I think (for it's price)...it's good for one reason alone...letting you know what games have been released.

But besides Nintendo, I need to look into other companies and their older systems. I don't need current issues, I just want to find back issues covering say, SMS, Genesis, Saturn, PSX, Lynx and others. I just need a magazine that's a good reference for the game library that's out there.

In the past, the closest thing I've had to this was Funcoland newspapers with prices for games. I'd get the new one each month and look at all the game titles.

Any particular ERA you're focusing on? I mean for 16-bit systems I really like EGM and Video Games & Computer Entertainment. For 8-bit stuff it's Electronic Games magazine.

For a real cross-section of gaming platforms, across ALL eras, try this:

Hey PDF, if you still need a commercial I think I just created one. :)
