It's time for another Good Idea, Bad Idea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8PhzrmBgMI)!

Good Idea: Releasing a portable version of Mega Man X.

Bad Idea: Releasing a portable version of Mega Man X with touch screen controls. And basing said title on the "feature phone" version of the game, instead of, oh, the SNES game.

The game will be released this month (http://app.famitsu.com/20111208_11636/) on iOS (in Japan, at least) and features Game Center support and a challenge mode with 80 levels.

I only see two buttons there. I need three buttons to play properly. Double tapping forward for dash doesn't work as well.

"Mega Man X will be releasing on iOS!"
That's good!
"It will feature touch controls"
That's bad.
"But it will feature brand new graphics!"
That's good!
"The graphics are from the phone version of the game."
That's bad.
"But there are lots of new unlockables!"
That's good!
"All the unlockables have to be bought via micro-transaction, and they're all "Angry Birds" related.
That's bad.
"But it comes with a free frogurt!"
That's good!
"The frogurt contains potassium benzoate."
...
"That's bad"
Can I go now?

It makes me wonder why Capcom didn't port Maverick Hunter X instead of this phone crud. It not like the iphone couldn't handle it, since Final Fantasy III proves otherwise.
