These are 30-something SNES titles going for $5 or less according to VGPC (12-15-11) that most folks find entertaining. This is
not my personal list of the best but rather a lot of games I have and a few that I don't. I'm more of a collector, but I love
playing NES/SNES games. After retro-collecting for 6+ years, I own most of these having go through numerous threads of
Best/Cheap/Underrated games on DP/NA. Hell, I've only thoroughly played through maybe a fifth of them? For current buyers or
gamers, which 5-10 of these would you say are needworthy of playing sooner rather than later?

edit: The few I've heavily spent time on are Mortal Kombat 2, Goof Troop, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, NBA Jam TE, Final Fantasy MQ,
and Magic Sword. As you already know, these are all great games worth picking up on the cheap.

I couldn't live without Star Fox. Fighting games like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat II have alot of replay value, at least to me.

I'm also partial to Lion King. If you like Earthworm Jim, you will face similar cheap hits and wacky jump/grappling segments, but a solid game nonetheless. Excellent music and graphics.

Xardion, Magic Sword, and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest are jolly great games to play during the weekend (or in some cases, having family members and friends over)

Just checked, I believe I counted 8 of them being co-op. Love playing a lotta these with my 5 year old. He loves Spanky's Quest and Mr. Do.

Super Black Bass - Back in the day, that game was the shit.

I can't forget Super Caesar's Palace either; really fueled my gambling addiction as a kid, made me the man I am today.

I'd say the most worthwhile of those are:

Cybernator
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Lagoon
Magic Sword
Star Fox

I wouldn't say most people find all of those games entertaining, though. Like even though I personally enjoyed Lagoon, more people probably dislike it than not. Mystic Quest gets a lot of hate too.

Just to nitpick, I don't think Mystic Quest would sell for $5 in most places -- or am I wrong? I would think at least 10 if not a few dollars more. Maybe I'm just getting old and outta touch with the kids these days.

I recently found a complete mint copy of Uniracers for 5 and a loose X-Men Mutant Apocalypse for 4. Uniracers is definitely unique and X-Men is a great Capcom beat em' up.

Who doesn't love taking a chance on an unknown and bargain priced game? From that list, in which there are a number of obviously well known good games, the following 6 stand out to me as being of surprising quality and are certainly deserving of a five clam drop:

B.O.B.
Operation Logic Bomb
Phantom 2040
Plok
Soldiers of Fortune
X-Kaliber 2097

B.O.B. and Plok are really cool platformers. Well drawn cartoony graphics, catchy soundtracks, solid challenge - two of my favourites.

Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball

big winner right there.

super replayable. I'm still playing it, nearly 20 years later. one of the best games ever IMO :) SNES has plenty of quality $10 or less games. Another reason why it's so easy to get into.

Who doesn't love taking a chance on an unknown and bargain priced game?I love that shit! With only a few bucks at stake, it takes me back to childhood when I based my purchase on little more than how cool the cartridge artwork was.

I got Addams Family Values complete for basically $5 earlier this year, haven't had a chance to fully devote my time to it, but it's a pretty solid game from what a saw and can also be rather difficult.

Phantom 2040 is a truly overlooked game and one that was rather a head of it's time. It's the only game on SNES that I can recall that has multiple paths in it's story that isn't an RPG and is really worth checking out, especially for those who enjoy Super Metroid.

Goof Troop is great as well, I remember playing it co-op with my brother and sister when I rented back in the day.

Lion King, Buster Bust's Loose and of course Starfox are more than worth the $5 as well. Very solid list indeed.

Magic Sword is a great value, though it's only 1 player and the original arcade version is 2. Mickey Mania isn't too bad as well, last one I saw was selling for $7, Genesis version boxed ran me $5. Paid $9 for Magic Sword, blah not too bad I suppose.

Haha, that cover art is awesome. And I'll actually buy that right now. I just watched some gameplay on YouTube and it looks like a good time. I love those side scrolling space shooters. I own Gradius III and Super R-Type.

I think my list would be:
- Gradius III
- Super R-Type
- F-Zero

I need to try Star Fox still.

I'd say my top 5 of these I own are:

Mortal Kombat 2
Goof Troop
NBA Jam TE
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
Phantom 2040

3 games on that list I don't have but want:

Cybernator
Plok
Operation Logtic Bomb

Plok kicks some serious ass "Oh No, Ive been diddled again!" yikes. Game is mad fun.
