I've recently hit my goal of collecting every g1 transformer as well as my goal of every vintage star wars toy released in the us. My next goal is to collect all the original series atari games (2600 series) released by atari. my goal is:
original numbered 9 game release
text label
sears text label
picture label
sears picture label
so basicly 4 full sets, now my question is to other atari collectors, are there anything that isn't in each of the 4 sets that I should be aware of, and is there a handy check list for each label type that anyone is aware of? Also what games will I have the toughest challenge looking for? I'm going for loose (for now). i'm aware that sears had a few exclusives so i'm including those as well, but are there some games that aren't in the sears sets? and do the exclusive sears game exist in picture label at all? (ie steeple chase ande star ship?)
any help with my challenge would be most apreciated!
Good luck......
But serious, there's a picture label Superman from Sears, which is like imposible to find. Exclusive Sears games as picture and text labels. Yes (Stellar Track has both)
Handy check list would be www.atarimania.com

definately not touching the silver or red label stuff (yet)
when I was a kid the fact that the orginal series of games was numbered, made me want to collect them all, now that its possible, I want to complete that goal. i'm currently in the process of sorting through boxes of toys and games trying to find which box i put most of my atari games in (only found about a third of what I have)

An oddity that comes to mind when reading this post is the Star Ship text label style that is unique. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-star-ship_18358.html

Or the 1986 black label re-releases of the old, old games in the carts without the sliding cover?

Star Ship wasn't a Sears exclusive. (The Sears version of Star Ship is "Outer Space.")
The three Sears exclusive games are Submarine Commander, Steeplechase, and Stellar Track.

I always wanted the gatefold boxes. I thought that is how it should have been released instead of the top flap thingy.
Good luck! That some hunting!

Steeplechase is text only, Submarine Commander is picture only, and Stellar Track has both a text and a picture version.

And don't forget carts like Night Driver and Bowling that have 2 different text color labels.
