so some of you know that i have been having a lot of collecting trouble lately, having regrets on the whole thing, etc

I started out buying whatever i could get my hands on. then i scaled back and made a list of the games that i want for each system. My goal was to get each game on the list CIB. I am nowhere near done with any of the lists. But here is my situation:

most of my retro systems are downstairs. Most of the time, i don't really want to go down there just to play. Upstairs i have a modded original xbox with entire libraries of NES, SNES, Genesis, TG16/CD, MAME/Neo Geo. everything runs in 720p, i can apply filters to make the games look much better on a LCD tv, save states, etc I even ripped my copy of Resident Evil 1 to the xbox hardrive and played it on the xbox ps1 emulator, and it runs fine. playstation game running on a xbox, amazing. Although most of the PS1 games can get glitchy which is why i would play my ps1 games on original hardware.

I decided to do a test. I went downstairs and played a few NES and SNES games for a little bit. Went back upstairs and played the same games through the xbox, just to see if i really do feel a difference.....guess what........i didn't. Besides the controller being different (i really wish someone would develop retro controllers for the original xbox) there really was no difference to me, it was actually much more convenient for me. Some might ask "well why not move the retro systems upstairs?"......there is no room. There is also barely any room to store my retro games. If i were to complete all my lists for each system, i have no idea where i would even store the games.

Anyways, i was thinking of using the money that i would get from selling, toward getting a backward compatible PS3, and a Wii. This would make my setup as follows:

PS3 to play PS1, PS2, and PS3 games
Xbox 360
Original Xbox with emulators and full libraries for all of the retro systems i own, plus pretty much every arcade/neo geo game that ever existed.
Wii to play Wii and Gamecube games.

I think that setup would be amazing, and would probably give me some relief. I could now actually focus on playing games rather than collecting (although i'd still collect for PS1, PS2, Gamecube, and modern systems)

There is still part of me that is saying not to sell, and to just keep them stored away. I could wait till next paycheck and get a Wii and PS3 without selling anything.

decisions, decisions.

Uh... okay? There really isn't a discussion here. Sounds like you're already pretty decided.

I live in Chicago and am interested in buying if you're planning on selling. Have a Turbo Duo system? I've been looking for 3 years and can't find a nice one.

I'm looking to start collecting again and would love to talk to you about a possible buy out if you have really made up your mind. I tried to get away from collecting and I did for a year... But I found myself still looking every time I was at a pawn shop or flea market. I just couldn't help it lol

Even when I sell games that I'm almost certain not to play much in the future, there is always a bit of regret afterward.

I also don't see what you expect us to discuss here. We don't need to be kept abreast of every decision you make in regards to this hobby.

Do whatever that floats your boat. This is all done for fun and if that's the best way for you to have fun, just do it.

Look man, some people like comic books. Some of them care if they have the originals, and some are cool with graphic novels. Same thing here. Pick for yourself, and then...

Give what you don't want to Sunnyvale ;)

I warn you now that you will almost undoubtedly regret selling your collection. When i was younger i sold all my ps1 games for $35, now i'm trying to get all of them back :(

Judging by his post, his collection has only been in his posession for a few months. So I imagine he can easily cut his losses now without a lot of seller's remorse later on like someone that sold part of their childhood collection of games might feel a few years down the road.

Hey I am happy with scans of the real things myself now. I think flashcarts/ multicarts, and modded disc based consoles are the way I'll be going for a while for games I've already beaten before since I don't like emulation. I like to do my first run with the real things but after that I won't mind having my cash back to put toward the next experience.
