Though it's only a rumor according to the DP guide, according to my hands on research it's fact.
I've looked this up on the net, and SMS power says the US version is 1 megabit, where as the European version is 2 megabits. Today, I've confirmed this is true by testing both the European and US versions on my system at home.
Though I can't yet confirm any extra levels in the eurpean version, I CAN confirm some big differences.
In the first level alone, here are the differences I've found:
the Piper is easier to beat in the US version
The Sewer Rats aren't present in the US version
The Bats don't shoot at you in the US version
the Pumpkins that fall from the trees fall differently (easier) in the US version
The mid level Witch isn't in the US version
The End of level pumpkin dropping Witch isnt in the US version.

If you're interested in obtaining the 2-mega version of Captain Silver, the easiest way to tell the difference is that it has different (wimpy) box art, and a multilingual description on the back of the box.

So basically they took out anything that might be even a small challenge? No wonder the U.S. version is ridiculously easy. I think a harder version definitely might be more fun. I'm going to be kind of surprized if it turns out there are entire extra levels. Why hasn't anyone compared the two versions before now anyway? It's not like Captain Silver is a rare, sought after game.

By the way, if anyone wants to play a vastly overlooked so bad it's good game, play the Famicom version. The mediocrity of the SMS game pales in comparison to it. I'd say it's just behind Super Monkey Daibouken and The Lost World of Jenny in terms of unplayability.

Raccoon Lad- Glad you finally figured it out from those 2 Captain Silver games I sent you. So it is the one with the cartoon artwork that has the extra levels? The painted artwork one is the inferior version then.
Hope you are enjoying the other SMS games I sent you and that they arrived ok.

Yeah, it's the one with the cartoony box art. I suspect the multi-lingual European version was distribited in certain parts of Canada, but not everywhere, thus starting the rumor of a "complete" Canadian version.
