probably not that big a deal...but went to the local GS today to get bulletstorm epic edition brand new.....i had my 2 year old son with me so i wasn't paying close enough attention when they charged me 29.99 for a new copy of that game while putting a used version of the game in what i'm 100% sure to be a display case...complete without the online pass to download the additional maps and to play online.

not to mention the disc has a bunch of light scratches all over it.....i was pissed...

shortly after i got in my car...i realized what had happened and when i tried to re enter the store they locked it and said they were closed.....damn.

anyway i'm sure they'll be closed tomorrow on new years day which means i wont be able to take care of this til monday.

Do not buy games at Gamestop. I'm not sure how many more times we all have to say this to each other but that company sucks and should not be used. There are a lot of reasons not to use them and to buy from someone else instead.

Gamestop is savings heaven for DS and PSP games. But for 360 and PS3 games they are one of the worst places to shop for in the world. The people at my local gamestop know me so i get treated well, but most other gamestops i've been to have the worst customer service ever. You should return it on the second

Agreed. It's been a good week since I last saw the 'Fuck GS Bandwagon' roll through here.

I really like shopping at Gamestop/EB Games. I have dealt with good and bad people but any time I've had a problem with them I have been treated very fairly. I recommend people buy their games there regularly since for older games I can often pick them up cheaper than I can on Kijiji.

i've had them swap used for new on me as well. If they have a chance to get rid of some leftover stock that they cannot move you better believe they will try and do a quick swap on you.

The new code stuff is gonna really get them on this though and obviously people who actually complain about it, which all should.

Whenever I buy a "new" game from Gamestop I always ask for a new sealed copy if they have it. Sorry to hear about your problem. I'm glad at least the Gamestop I use, they all know me and are good people to deal with.

What they did with closing up the store was not cool, they should have let you back in. Its not like you were a "new" customer, they just saw you.
On a side note, I've never had a problem with my local Gamestops.

Well, do they still put stickers all over the used games including on the actual labels? If they have stopped this practice I could understand using them for used only. Maybe.

I think we need to make an addendum to the FAQ:

"Threads complaining about these GameStop decades-old practices will be pwend and locked:

-Opening games yet still selling them as new
-Putting extraneous numbers of stickers on cases and sometimes inserts
-Giving you next to nothing in trade
-Trying to convince you to buy used instead of new
-Employees having beady little eyes

Please refrain from making posts about those topics, as they've been done to death"

My favorite part of the Gamestop threads are when former employees take the bait and get all butthurt and snippy.

yea i think when i go back i'll definitly demand a sealed copy...if not i'm getting my money back....i actually know most of the employees there but just so happened that last night i think they only had their third key manager and had 2 female workers there whom i've never seen before. the one who was checking me out kept screwing up the order....and took her forever to find the game....i knew something was gonna be screwed up.

i never shop at gamestop anymore, i haven't in a few years. the thing i dont like is when people talk bad about gamestop but then spend their money there anyways, making sure gamestop stays around forever. i mean you really have to vote with your dollars.

take xenoblade for example. if i couldn't have ordered that from nintendo themselves, i wouldn't have gone to gamestop to buy it and that's just the way it is.

occasional good deals or not, i dont like their business and i'm not going to shop there.

Sometime they do, sometimes they don't. You just gotta check out the case and ask to see the condition of the disc before you purchase it. You are the consumer, so if you let them shaft you, it's your own fault.

I picked up Parappa The Rapper for the PSP used. It had one price sticker on the front and the game was pretty much in prestine condition. I think I can peel the sticker off of the front, since I only paid $6 for it.

GS has been a plentiful source for gamecube games for me over the last 3 years and whenever I've had problems with service I've made sure to leave negative feedback on survey on the website provided at the bottom of the receipt. I'm pretty sure management takes feedback very seriously.

Look! A solution. And as Oob said, this has been done to death more than I care to think.
