DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS for me?

I'm going to try to get into DS heavily. I already have both a DS and a DS Lite. However, the original DS's screen is not the best, and the DS Lite's buttons are too small for me. Do the DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS have larger buttons?

No. 3DS has flat clicky buttons similar to the original DS, that you may or may not find well suited for extended play. Start/select/home got hidden under that pad with weird tactile feedback. While ABXY aren't soft like DS Lite.

There's very little point in getting a regular DSi, and the XL is still too expensive to really make any sense...

There's almost certainly a 3DS redesign in the works, so I'd recommend just waiting for that to come around, and maybe keep your eyes open for a price drop on the XL when it eventually gets discontinued.
