Found a second CIB copy of Championship Soccer 94 for the Sega CD today and was wondering what the going rate is for it. In nice shape, but not minty.

It's hard to place since they don't really come up often, and either the seller knows it's rare or they don't and price it accordingly. In the last year or so I've seen them go as low as $30 but also high as like $100. I'd say a copy in decent shape that's not to beat up is probably worth at least $50, but in the end it's just a soccer game for the Sega CD so it's worth is debatable unless you're going for a complete Sega CD set.

It was one of the last games I needed for my own collection, but then I randomly came across one in a lot and was set.

That's about what I thought. It was cheap enough that I picked it up as trade bait. Maybe swap it for a couple of the more common games I still need for my set. Thanks for the info.

Some of the most expensive titles on a system are Soccer games. If I'm not mistaken, the SNES, N64 and PS1 all also have very expensive ($50~100) Soccer games as well.

I didn't know this either. I'm bound to have passed up at least one of these.

edit: after looking on eBay to see the cover guess I haven't, but I'm certainly going to look out for it now.

But it's a freakin' Soccer game, Americans don't give a flying rat's behind about Soccer. And the SNES ISSS games are only valuable 'cause they were mostly sold south of the border. :P

Yeah, I don't know if it's a low print run or what, but Championship Soccer 94 is up there with NBA Hangtime 95 for the Sega CD, being pretty rare but not well known about. Based on rarity alone they should be worth more than titles like Keio and Snatcher that are well known and actually good games, but they're just sports games so no one pays them much heed.

I know there's much more to price than just rarity for many systems, but this another example of a very uncommon game that's relatively unknown and doesn't have a very high price. Also, I don't know how many people collect Sega CD stuff so it may never go up too high :/

I could well be wrong, but I thought I remember reading in GamePro or something that this was a rental-only game.
Like 3 Ninjas... or, I can't remember what else.

I have had 3 complete copies of this in the past year and a half and sold each one for $75 to $95

Not bad considering most stores if you find it in the wild sell it for $3 or so.

Did you go the ebay route with them or local sales? I'd be more than happy with $75!
