XBox 720, It's coming! According to... Real Steel?

So I do tend to hit up Imgur a fair bit, I like chuckling at the comments to the pictures. I saw this one a few days ago and figured that it should be getting discussed. We all know a new Xbox is coming, but this sure is an interesting way to advertise it.

I don't know what the current code name is, but 5-6 years ago it was just called Xbox.next. There's about a 0% chance of that being the final name, but I can't imagine Xbox 720 is really on the table either.

Yeah, it sounded fictional, like "360 x 2 = 720, so let's say that it'd be the Xbox 720". Could always just be a codename that'll eventually be dropped for some other name.

Placeholders. But good question: What will it be called? Can't be Xbox3 - would be bad because of 360, 720 would be a little odd, even though i don't think it's completely out of the race. Many talk about it as "Xbox720", but on the other hand XP was called Longhorn and was widely know as that and it even had a logo, but they still changed the name to XP. We will have to see, but i love that speculation stuff.

Most Microsoft projects are called "Whatever.next" before they get an official code name; office is called "Office.next" for example. At least they were back then... MS changes the conventions every few years, just for fun.

Interesting. Didn't know about the .next naming convention over at Microsoft, which seems to mean little more than "new" in their case. And LOL about the reference to NeXT... :P

It won't be called "Xbox 3" because that makes it seem inferior to "Playstation 4" in the eyes of consumers. It also won't be called "Xbox 720" because of the connection with "720p resolution" (also seen as inferior in the eyes of consumers).

Considering that the current console is called the Xbox 360, as has already been stated, that's also a major reason why it won't be called the Xbox 3. Far too close to Xbox 360 for them to ever go with it

Or maybe they'll take a page out of Hollywood's book when it comes to releasing remakes and call it "The Xbox." No numbers, just the word "The" to distinguish it from the first console. If we're lucky. Could just call it "Xbox."

It will have 3 attachments and a way to play portable games on it... and will have a rumored 4th attachment created by another company and back out on it last second and piss that company off which they turn into a video game company.............

With the pushes towards an all encompassing TV Box that Microsoft seems to be heading towards they may just drop the XBOX title from their next system to try to market it as a entertainment media center rather then a primarily game machine. Just a thought.

ya know now that ya got me on the subject i just thought of something i am surprised i haven't heard from something about yet.

In japan. Alternative ways to express sexual needs is kinda common. Hentai is the more popular format.
and in japan since PS1 (and i am sure as far back as sega cd). There has been games out there that venture into this need. Producing sex games/hentai games.

I am surprised someone over there hasn't made a sex related kinect game. And if it has been done you'd think due to how people love to exploit stuff like that on the internet we would have received word of that already :P

Big box retail stores generally will not carry Adult Only rated games in the US, they don't want to be perceived as "smut dealers" by the general public, as well as "think of the children" outcries. AFAIK Microsoft or Sony will not allow them on their respective download services either, so that leaves mail order / adult bookstore sales only, which would never be significant enough for developers to bother with after license fees and what not.

TL;DR If Walmart won't sell it, they're not going to bother making it.

Microsoft is mostly pushing Kinect as a family game night peripheral. Do you really think that it would allow a publisher to sell a pornographic title, Japan or otherwise?

Now if you're talking about unofficial stuff then, yeah, something like that may come down the pipeline at some point in the future. But probably not during Kinect's lifetime.

Somebody already tried to make an adult game for Kinect shortly after it launched. And Microsoft quickly let the world know that they would never (http://123kinect.com/kinect-adult-game/7722/) allow such a game on their system.
