This evening, THQ's Australian PR department issued a statement to the contrary, as posted by VG247 (http://www.vg247.com/2012/01/15/rumour-thq-cancels-2014-slate-and-offers-self-for-sale/). "THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO," THQ said. According to the statement, the only reduction to THQ's lineup has been to move focus away from the "kids' boxed games sector" following poor performance (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/udraw-hasnt-fared-so-well-on-xbox-360-and-ps3-thq-lowers-its-f/) of the most recent version of the uDraw. " Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business," the statement said. "We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry."

Note that THQ said it "has not made any decisions" about Warhammer 40k: DMO -- that's hardly a statement of unwavering support. Regardless, the statement is clear about the rest of the 2014 lineup.http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)THQ denies rumors about cancellation of its 2014 lineup (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/16/thq-denies-rumors-about-cancellation-of-its-2014-lineup/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Mon, 16 Jan 2012 00:15:00 EST. I would be sad to see THQ go. I like quite a few of their franchises. Saints Row, Metro 2033, Darksiders, De Blob, WWE, Warhammer. And I am really looking forward to the South Park rpg, and Homefront 2.

Honestly I think it's only a matter of time before they join Akklaim. They have been losing lots of money over the last few years and are in desperate need of a big financial hit.

No worries, EA will buy them out.

You say that like it's a bad thing. EA has easily been one of the best developer/publishers this gen. They may have bought up a few well known developers, but at the same time, the developers have pushed out quality work and have been given more than enough development time. It's unfortunate that a lot of their games didn't sell well, like Mirror's Edge, Dante's Inferno, and the Saboteur, but that doesn't change the fact that these games are great games. There's only one EA game I've played this gen that didn't sell well and was deserving of its low sales and that's Brutal Legend. Aside from having the best video game soundtrack of all time, there's absolutely no reason to play Brutal Legend.
