You will have to translate it but the article says that Hudson is dissolved- totally absorbed into Konami. Sad. Even though companies are not static entities, different people come and go, it still is sad that the Hudson that gave us Bomberman, Bonk, and Adventure Island is now gone. I'm sure Konami will deign to give us a Bomberman here and there, and the brand will still be there with that quirky little bee, but it will no longer have the Hudson spirit anymore than the current Atari has the same spirit of Atari when Nolan Bushnell was there.

It's sad, but what was the last Hudson developed game you remember being any good? I can't honestly think of a single Hudson game I've played since the 16-bit era.

Elemental Gimmick Gear was awesome so were the bomberman games from Saturn through GC. Lost in Shadow was a fun gem if you like Mario Party they did a few of those

They are far and few between past the 16-bit era, to be sure. I can, however think of one excellent Hudson game that came along in the post 16-bit era:
Saturn Bomberman!!!
But other than that, yeah...

The last great Hudson game I can think of was Ninja Five-O (2003) on GBA. That game is dynamite and if not for a 2D oriented system like the GBA Hudson's best could very well have been stuck pre-2000. All the same, it's a shame to hear they've finally gone.

How can you guys leave out bomberman on Gamecube and the most excellent Elemental Gimmick Gear(E.G.G) on Dreamcast!? It was a great game with Zelda gameplay and handrawn visuals.

Yeah, it's sad to see these companies go away once they've been around as long as Hudson has but it happens and they haven't put anything out lately worth while. Hopefully the brand will stick around though.

Not even a month after I discover the obscure "Star Soldier 2 minute mode" for Satellaview, and the company responsible folds?
January sucks....
Farewell, Hudson. Please forgive me for never having touched a TurboGrafx.

It's quite sad that many of the classic developers haven't been able to remain afloat.
Acclaim
Jaleco...
Sunsoft...
and now Hudson.
At least Natsume is still around, making shit just as weird and good as they did way back on the NES.

You are calling Acclaim a classic developer with a straight face? You do realize they are responsible for LJN.

Acclaim was not a classic while they were a decent publisher for a while for MK series and Sega games and had Iguana studios who did Turok until they got bought by Nintendo under the name Retro Studios.
Acclaim destroyed themselves with bad decisions and the game that got them in legal trouble and bombed and sealed their fate was BMX XXX

I hope Konami does something more with the franchises than Square-Enix has after their acquisition of Taito.. Farewell, Hudson.

Didn't Hudson buy the Telenet properties when it folded? Does that mean Konami owns Valis now?

Acclaim only ported the MK games which Midway had in arcades. Let's not forget Hudson's role on the old Turbo Grafx.
Can we get a roll call of 1980's developer/publishers who are still in business (without just being a trademarked name like Activision or Atari)? Can't be that many beyond Nintendo, Konami, Capcom, etc.

Actually, Hudson put out a Nectaris update a couple years ago on PS3/360 that was really good!
But, as the PC-Engine/TG-16 is probably my favorite console ever, this is really sad for me. I wonder if Konami is keeping any of their staff on board?

Sunsoft was the last to buy the Telenet properties as of 2009. Most people think Sunsoft is gone but they're still around, only the American and European sections were shut down.

I know that Takashi Meijin left a little while back, and the rest of the staff will evidently be "dissolved" by Konami on March 1, 2011.
Below is a link to a Kotaku blurb that has links to a few different articles covering Hudson's demise/dissolving or whatever the proper term is.

Hudson will be dearly missed.
Elemental gimmick gear is a very overlooked gem. Other than the obvious domestic games, Hudson really shined on the Saturn with titles like Bulk Slash, Willy Wombat and Tengai Makyo IV: Apocalypse (however its spelled).
They certainly have an amazing catalog of games, we can only hope Konami realizes the potential of what they acquired. I vote Neutopia III!

does this mean HuCards are gonna go up in value just like when a painter dies and his/her work skyrockets in value?

They're bloody high enough already if you ask me! But, if it means that my Darkwing Duck quadruples in value, I guess I'd be okay with it.

Did nobody play Alien Crush for the Wii? That was a good title from Hudson as of Late! Star Soldier for the Wii as well and the Military Madness that just recently released were really good as well! I have my Turbo systems and play them often. Sad to see this happen.
