I'm noticing more and more copies of this game around now. Still kind of pricey though, like $60ish sometimes. Oh well, once it's available for digital download, the physical copies won't be worth anything.

Well if you own the PS3, You can get the two pack for $40 or under most of the time... I own the original on PS2. It's a great game to say the least.

Ico (PS2) was the best $1 I ever spent.

This game is awesome. I remember when I was playing this game. I usually play several games at a time rotating through the week. When it came to this game it was my main focus and I played it only, daily, until it was finished. It is one of the few games in which I can say it made an impact on me. The mood, music, gameplay equals a masterpiece in design, IMO. :)

I don't care what you pay for this game its a must play! I'd like to play it again (perhaps when I acquire another ps3 or ps2.) I paid $40 for the copy I used to own

Anyone buying PS2 ICO note that the PS2 PAL version has additional features and also supports 60hz. You control YORDA in the second go. I'm still not positive if everything from the PAL version made it to the NTSC PS3 release.

Easily one of the most over-hyped games of all time. I played it for the first time after beating SOTC. I guess I got spoiled. I was expecting too much.

A boring, jaggy, frustrating game with beautiful music.

Frustrating? Did we play the same game?
I never had any issues with Ico, aside from the combat being too simple.
SotC, on the other hand, is an unresponsive mess during the actual battles, and a dreary, boring horsey ride for the rest.

A boring, jaggy, frustrating game with beautiful music.Overhyped? IIRC, Ico was a sleeper title, not unlike Beyond Good and Evil (another great sleeper title, IMO). Ico has a cult following, but I don't think it was ever a mainstream hit, even in it's digital and HD rerelease incarnations. With that said, I never found anything frustrating about the game. It's simplistic in it's design and controls, and I've never encountered anything (the controls, plot, environment, etc.) that was poorly implemented.

I understand that people like different things, but your reception of the game may have been tainted by your perception of the game prior to playing it. I'd never heard of Ico before I played it, and when I did, I took so much from the experience. I found it rich and endearing, but I understand that it's not for everyone. I wouldn't call a game like Ico overrated, because the (few) people who love it have a genuine reason for loving it, which has nothing to do with any pre-release buzz like most big name franchises, or mindless brand or genre based praise by the masses.

I was sold on Ico from the moment I started running with Yorda, and I saw how frail she was when I inadvertently broke my grasp and ran ahead. Ico made me appreciate the vibration function of the controller more than any other game before or since. Through the Dual Shock, I actually developed a emotional connection to Yorda, not unlike a well fleshed out character in exceptional movie or book.

I wouldn't try to sell you on a game you've tried and don't enjoy, or convince you that you should like it, but I assure you that a great deal of the praise this game receives is genuine, and deserved. The developers really created something unique and special in Ico.

If you have the option, play it on PS3. Both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are a little better technically on the PS3: SotC especially.
