i just found this game again after like 15 years and remembered how fun it was, especially the coop split screen, but it dawned on me that i have never in my life, in person or online ever seen mention of this game? am i seriously the only person on earth who's ever played this beautiful gem of a game? SOMEBODY SPEAK TO ME!!!

Yes, and on Lynx and PC Engine CD, too. ;) It never did anything for me but I never did play it multiplayer.

I own the game as well for MegaDrive. I only played a few times, but every time I see someone mention it, they always rant and rave how amazing it is. I'll have to boot it up again here soon.

Great game. The co-op play and multiple scenarios really make this one to get.

I'm quite partial to the Lynx version, it's one of the best of the library. I was immediately impressed by the squelchy sprite manipulation that breathes pulsating life into the slimy corridors, it's an extremely cool effect that I still dig. The animated slime walls in the Genesis port don't quite do it in the same way and I almost prefer the smaller viewing window offered by the Lynx original, the claustrophopia works for this game. I didn't realize the game hit the PC Engine CD until this thread, that strikes me as a most unlikely port.

I always wanted to own this game when I was a kid. I think it had something to do with my obsession with Ghostbusters and anything SLIME related. Used to play it on a demo unit at a local game store all the time, but never picked it up. Thanks for the reminder!

I really liked the game on both the Lynx and the Genesis but I remember it being REALLY hard at one point. The Lynx version is actually a bit better IMO because of the scaling effects. But it is a cool game.
And there's a PC-Engine port? I never knew!

Got to love that cheesy late 80's early 90's CD video game music.

I too loved Slime World, though I only ever played the Lynx version. I liked it so much that I beat it; I recall it took me quite a long time to do so. There were parts that were so incredibly frustrating that I'm surprised I never chucked my Lynx at the nearest wall. I probably haven't played it in well over 10 years. Maybe it's time to fire it up again.

Ha! I bought it based on this thread! Can't wait, the genesis version is frustrating.

I picked up the Genesis version years ago and all I remember about the game is how frustratingly hard it was. Might have to give it another shot someday.

I had the Lynx version back in the day and I really liked it. After I got rid of my Lynx I tried the Genesis version and thought it wasn't as good. Though I don't really remember why.
I think the Lynx version looks better, but I found the Genesis version to be highly enjoyable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awZw698UAZI&feature=plcp&context=C38f1a09UDOEgsToPDskIx-iJ2mxYjCTiOfiH5ShrQ).

So I've been playing the pc engine version, and it's got some funny quirks. First off, though I can't understand the language, the cut scenes seem to make Todd into a cigar smoking douche. The sidekick girl in the cut scenes doesn't wear a bra, and her nipples are rock hard and center-screen every shot. In addition, the title screen misspells Epyx, calling it "Epix". This is a pretty bizarre treatment of an innocent little Lynx game.
The gameplay itself is identical to the Genesis port.
