I've never seen a Solvalou cab in the plywood and plastic. But here it is at klov:

I want to play it! Waaah! No home conversion? Help me PDF, you're my only hope!

Well, actually, anybody else can be my hope, too. It's like Highlander 2, I guess. (Like, OK, there can be two or three.)

EDIT: Is this sucker available on MAME? I ask because I am a MAME virgin, and might consider learning the MAME way if it's the only way.

No home conversion. :( It is playable in one of those emulator-thingies but you'll need a decent machine.

Oh my, that thing is damn neat right there. I wonder if my system is good enough to run it. Better install those nVidia specific drivers again. Blarg.

Yes, it is available for MAME. It plays well in MAME version 65b on a PIII 1.2GHz. I don't know what the video capabilites are, but it's a Dell Optiplex GX150 if anybody cares to look it up.

If you like Solvalou, you'd probably like Starblade (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=9779) as well. I actually had the privelege of playing Starblade in the shweet yellow sit-down cab way back 1993, before the arcade went belly up. Good times....good times...

While I'm pretty sure I'm a Linux novice compared to you, I have to say I recently formatted and rebuilt my system (Mdk 9.1), and the latest nVidia drivers are extremely easy to install. Basically nvidia provides a script which does everything for you except changing the 'device' entry in your XF86Config-4 file.
