Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who you may remember from his Match.com profile video explanation video (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/19/netflixs-dvd-devision-renamed-qwikster-adds-games-by-mail/) of Netflix's aborted (http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/netflix-cans-qwikster-service-staying-whole/) split into two companies, said Netflix has no plans to offer video games right now, speaking in a Q4 investor meeting today. Hastings didn't offer more details on far-future plans, but he did confirm Netflix is investigating 3D streaming options to supplement its Blu-ray 3D disc service.

For now, it looks like gamers all will be getting is digital and physical disservice.http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)Netflix drops plan to offer video games like it was Qwikster (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/25/netflix-drops-plans-to-offer-video-games-like-they-were-qwikster/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Wed, 25 Jan 2012 19:20:00 EST. A couple years at least. They used to charge an additional $1 per month, and it was totally worth it. Now I think its $2-3. But I dropped their physical service when they announced the price hike, so I'm not sure what it is now.

Oops: Just noticed you said 3D. I have no clue on that. Disregard dumb ol' me.

holy crap, does that company have its head up its ass

what the article fails to mention is they actually bought thousands of games, stripped the discs out of the boxes, and was all but ready to go before making the decision to pull out. what a waste.
