Hey all, since I never use my old windows PC anymore, I'm thinking of putting in its big 750 GB IDE harddrive into my modded Xbox.

My Xbox is a 1.6 with a 250 GB drive already installed. It's got a Aladdin XenoFX modchip that allows it to dualboot into either XMBC or the plain old MS dash depending on how long the power button is pressed and held during boot up.

The MS dash stuff is stored on the C: partition.
Programs, saves, and XBMC is stored on the E: partition
Games, movies, and pretty much everything else is stored on the F: partition.

I have full access to the entire harddrive through XBMC and FTP.

What I'd like to do is simply move everything over to my 750 GB drive so I have almost limitless space to put on everything I could ever want. The problem is that I really have no idea how to do this. I originally got the harddrive updated by a guy who operates a modchip store (which apparently isn't illegal in Canada) but I'd have to drive at least an hour and pay him $30 for the job. I'd like to do it myself since it seems that everything I'd need to do this is already in place.

The pc I use mostly is a mac, but I do have access to an old IDE windows XP clunker.

Any help much appreciated.

If you have a modchip, a "hardmod", then you can download and burn to a DVD something called Auto Installer DeLuxe, found here http://www.aideluxe.com/index.php?title=Auto-Installer_Deluxe

I've used it lots of times (I have 4 Xbox myself), and it's perfect!

Whoa, I didn't realize I could do this.

So what do I need to do? burn Auto Installer Deluxe and then what?

Can I just open the Xbox and swap out the harddive for a formatted empty one and then put the disc in and let it do it's thing?

If so, that would be great! Please let me know how to proceed.

I already have older versions of auto installer deluxe (4.21)

Yes, that's all there is too it. AID makes it a simple "few click" process. When I was modding Xboxs for folks, thats all I ever used.

Which setting is the best?

Link brings up an "exceeded bandwidth" message. You remember what options it was asking?

I would recommend to use xbpartitioner,it will prevent you from having data corruption.

OK, was finally able to view the link.

It basically comes down to preference. I would probably wager that most people prefer XBMC, but the other dashes have their own pros and cons.

Alright guys, I downloaded and burned Auto Installer Deluxe v4.53 and have tested it that it boots correctly.

Tonight I'm going to attempt to put in my seagate 750 GB IDE harddrive into my modded xbox with the Aladdin modchip.

I'll be following this:

Should I install Single Boot with Virtual C?

The way my Xbox works right now, if you press the power button it boots into M$ Dash, but if you hold it in for a second it boots to the custom dash, in my case XBMC.

If I recall, the reason for this was to boot into a "safe mode" when playing games on Xbox Live so Microsoft wouldn't be able to detect you are running a hacked system and ban you. Since Xbox Live no longer exists, is there any reason to do this?

I'm also wondering about this:

This guy seemed to be in the same boat I'm getting into. He even has the same size harddrive. Like him, I want to have as few partitions as possible.

According to him "i have looked on some sites and they say you need to format it [harddrive] with 32k clusters, not 64k clusters. But some sites say you need to format it with 64k clusters.

Do you have any idea what he's talking about? How should I do it? This is the first time I'm getting into this, and I'd like to get it done correctly to work the best and have the fastest response time. I've already upgraded the IDE ribbon cable with a 80wire one. so I'm hoping to get the best speed possible.

It's been awhile, so please forgive my memory. I believe single boot with virtual C: is the way to go. You'll still be able to access your M$ dash the same as before, as that's controlled by the modchip.

As far as cluster size, I have don't remember. The biggest HDD I was putting in was only 300GB back in the day.
