I returned a vintage PC game to Goodwill today that was missing some disks, but ended up picking up a copy of Xenogears (missing manual) and Wild Arms 2 (CIB) for $5/ea

I returned to my friend's and tore through his shed. I recovered 55 Atari 2600 games including a sealed Kangaroo, 12 TI games/programs (this includes the ones from yesterday), Super PowerGlove (NES), An EA Golf game (Genesis), a SNES controller, 3 Gameboy games (one Advance), a Gameboy Advance with a scratched screen, two Commodore 64 carts, and Oregon Trail (PC).

Here is a close up of the 2600 goodies:

No sign of the C64 yet. My friend says it might be as his mom's house. Here's hoping he finds it and MORE.

I spotted a Sega CDX at a local Goodwill a few weeks back, but it had a heart-stopping $150 price tag on it. I see them so rarely, that I kept tabs on it every time I visited the store. After a week or so, they marked it down to $99.99 but I still wasn't ready to bite. Last week I had a chance to talk to an employee that was nice enough to explain the order that they used for their half-priced days (she gave me the order of price tag colors that they used). Armed with that info, I headed in yesterday morning and sure enough the CDX was included in the half price sale. Deduct an additional 5% for Club Goodwill and the CDX was mine for about $48. Persistence pays off!

After a long drought, I'm hoping my luck will change today. I have a few 15% off coupons for Half Price Books that expire on Wednesday, so this morning I stopped in to a location and snagged:

Raiden Fighters Aces (Xbox 360) - in immaculate shape, complete.

After the coupon, the total was $9.19

I've been looking for this shmup collection for quite some time, so extremely happy to have found it!! Now I have about 4 more coupons to use and will try to get out tonight and tomorrow to find more discount goodness.

Nothing on the sale front, but on the personal purchase front...

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-02-27a.jpg
This was 50 cents. There was another CD I wanted to buy but the disc was missing. Not bad! Some idiot is selling this on eBay for $100, and someone in France wants five euros for this. So I think I got a good deal. :p

Some guy also brought a huge box full of DVDs at $1 each. I grabbed these:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-02-27b.jpg
Lucker The Necrophagus: The Director's Cut
Big Bad Mama 1 + 2 (Roger Corman's Cult Classics)
Teknolust (female scientist makes robotic clones of her that require sperm for sustenance... okay!)
Bruno Mattei's Womens Prison Massacre + Caged Women
Exit 38
The Hitchhiker (ten episodes)
Spliced
Two Evil Eyes (by George Romero and Dario Argento)

He said $1 each but he told me he wanted $10 for all because I grabbed some movies that had more than one disc. Bah.

Most of the movies on that bin were either former rentals or just plain garbage, but it seemed odd to find so many trashy things. And before anyone says anything, I bought Womens Prison Massacre to resell or trade away. I don't like that sort of stuff. Oh sure, I'll watch The Cinema Snob riff on it, but actually watch it? No thanks.

More fairly ordinary finds:

Shadow of the Colossus strategy guide
Bratz - PS1
Jersey Devil - PS1
Gamecube controller

I think the lady forgot to give me my receipt (it was right at closing), so I don't know precisely how everything rang up but it came out to 11 bucks after tax. Anyway, I already have Jersey Devil, but last I remember it's kinda uncommon and sells for about $20 so I figured it was worth a quick flip. The GameCube controller is the best part, since now I have a full set of four, each its own unique color, no less. That'll make 4-player gaming a heck of a lot easier. It was a little dirty on top, but it cleaned up nicely and the buttons all felt nice from the get-go. I wasn't in the mood to buy a controller that would have to be opened up for cleaning. Cleaning off the outside, it looks and plays practically like new now.

I wandered around the flea market for a bit today and stumbled upon a booth that bought out most of the movies I left behind. The guy managed to sell around sixteen yesterday, pretty much all the ones I wanted were in that pile... but I managed to snag three more:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2012-02-28a.jpg
Night Train Murders
The Killing Kind
Commander Hamilton

Yes, it's that guy from the Oh Snap gifs. He's some sort of Middle European 007 or something and Mark Hamill is the bad guy. An AMERICAN bad guy. How can you NOT like that? Total hero / villain reversal! :D

A bunch of CDs, including a BRAND NEW SHAQ DIESEL HELL YEAH so if anyone wants my older copy you can have it. Oh yeah and a Gameshark Cheats and Codes Volume 1 disc. I wonder if it'll work on my PS2.

Also, THIS finally arrived!

Temp Sound Solutions: Now You're Playing with Powar 6, 7, 8, 9, 9.5, and X, plus a TSS shirt (which ended up being too big for me) - $50 shipped. I got a discount since I've supported him for YEARS and promoted his stuff at my website. Yay!

I happened upon some 2600 games at the Half Price Books near me. I really should have picked some of them up as I had never seen some of them before.

4509

I ended up not picking up any of them but figured the Co Co Nuts might be a bit rare. I checked the rarity guide on here and it was a 3. I then checked the Karate and saw it was a rarity 9! @_@ I went back up today and of course it had sold.

I had this gut feeling to pick it up but I decided not to. Never again! :onfire:

Yea, if you have a gut feeling, it's sometimes best to pony up the cash and take a possible hit. More times than not that's worked out for me and there are several things I decided not to buy (even though my gut was telling me yes) and I lost out on cool crap and/or easy money.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Karate is only a 4. Its a Froggo game. Not sure what you looked up but its not rare or valuable.

I grabbed an untested Master System on eBay for $17.17. System only but that's a good damn deal. Hoping it works but I know I can fix it if otherwise.

Erm, you seem to strike out much more than luck out. It does feel good when you luck out though. That Betamax VCR I bought for $9.99 works and turned out to be one of the most highly sought after models, with it recently going for $200 on ebay.

The Froggo version is missing from the database here, I'm guessing he went by the listings here that are missing pictures of the cart.

Strangely, the guide here has the Funvision version also listed but it's not listed on the Atari Age database. Just for those curious, I'll post a pic of the rare version below. There are two versions of this rare game, one in a regular cart and the other with a T handle. The label looks the same as far as I can tell.

Flashback2012, you didn't really miss out on anything. At least nothing super rare or valuable. :)

I just searched Karate and 2600 and that's what came up. Looks like Gameguy found the same result I did. :)

I found a pic of it on Ebay and you're correct, it's the Froggo release.

http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Karate-Atari-2600-/56208684?_dmpt=Video_Games_Games&_pcategid=139973&_pcatid=2&_refkw=2600+karate&_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C 72%253A6063&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I grew up on the Atari 2600 but my collector knowledge starts with the NES and goes up from there. Even still, it looks like I could have gotten a semi decent flip out of it so I still should have taken a chance on it. If anything I could have added it to my small-ish collection of 2600 carts had I chosen not to sell because it wasn't worth anything. ^^;

Nice find on the Photoshop. That reminds me I still have an upgrade copy of 6.0 or 7.0 (can't remember) to list on eBay. Photoshop is a quick seller.

I don't know if you ever come across any AutoCAD stuff but you should pick that up. Some guy in Germany just gave me $115 to ship him two boxed copies of AutoCAD LT 2000 Upgrade. I sold retail versions a while back for like $60-80 each and even the older copies fetched me $15-20. Had I been smart, I would have paired the boxed LT 2000 with the older retail copies but oh well. You make mistakes like that sometimes.

I did pretty well today. Picked up a copy of The Castlevania Adventure for $1. Also grabbed a Fisher turntable for $5. Couldn't find an exact one on eBay but looking at comparable models, I think I'm going to get at least $75 shipped for it. At least that's what I'm going to start the auction at. I have a shit-ton of turntables around my house so it's not like I need to keep this one.

Just got back from Goodwill. Picked up...

Star Wars Kotor I & II - $5.99 each
Demon's Souls (black label) - $5.99 - anyone know if black label is more desirable or less on this one?
Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk (new sealed, PS2 version) - $5.99 - took a chance that this was worth something, but no.
X-Men Trilogy Collector's Edition - $7.99 - At first I couldn't find any info on this. Turns out it's PAL region-2. XD Not worth anything, so I'm going to return it.
Dune - Screening Cassette VHS - This appears to be released either before the movie or before the VHS since it has a "street date" on it stating when it'll be released. I paid fifty cents. If anyone knows if this is worth anything, please lmk. I couldn't find any info about this.

Thats because you were thinking of the Star Wars: Fan Favorites Pc series. There are indeed two (http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Fan-Favorites-II-Pc/dp/B003ZSEJ6U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330561582&sr=8-2) of those.

As for me, I just bought Crysis on XBL games on demand. Been wanting to play that forever.

Black label will always be more desirable than GH even if GH is in less quantities. it will never be as sought after as the Demon's Souls Collector's edition though, that fetches big bucks, so keep your eye out for it :)

That's normally the case but these days the GH version can have additional content not on the regular release (usually a bundle of dlc). So that's why I asked.

Hexyz Force - traded Infinite Space for this with Sevenfold over at Cheapassgamer, one HTF gem for another :)

I was interested in both.
Checking prices, I'm guessing $25 to get IS card-only from GameStop wasn't a spectacular deal?
Though as to Hexyz, as much as I prefer physical I might have to take a look at PSN.
Never see the PSP Legend of Heroes games around at GameStop (except each of the first two once each, so I bought them). I was surprised to see the third still available new on amazon, so I bought that, along with Trails in the Sky, and Mimana (is it worth the under-$20 price?)

I originally got infinite space at gamestop complete for the $25 price tag, it's a good deal compared to the online prices but not the best. I highly recommend both infinite space and hexyz force, both are very enjoyable if you can find them at a good price. Also I haven't tried mimana yet, but the prices for it are generally under the $20 range, even for the box set

Got Mimana.
But it arrived with the box a bit dented. So I immediately opened it up to inspect if it was possibly damaged in shipping.
I saw a bit of scuffs on the UMD (being just slightly loosened from the clip, but not enough to actually fall out of the holder), but I'd guess if it's only the outer plastic part (and none on the disc surface), should still play fine?
Luckily the soundtrack CD appears flawless.

Perhaps it better to order such "collector's edition" boxed games separately, and avoid having oddly-sized packages?
(with it I ordered the standard edition of Trails in the Sky)

Finally found SNES Castlevania Dracula X cart. Good label and the price was at least the cheapest I've found. Love the game, great fun.
