I've heard only certain N64 systems can display in RGB. Is this true?

If it is, how can you tell which model you have just by looking at it?

The only sure way to see if the board is compatible is to take the N64 apart and look at the revision number on the motherboard above the cartridge slot. NUS-CPU-01 to NUS-CPU-04 are the ones that can be RGB modified. NUS-CPU-05 and above can't not be modified the traditional attach wire to the chip or R8 R9 R10 points and amplify it.

The other way is to look at the serial number at the bottom of the console. Serial numbers NS100000000 to NS180000000 seem to be the ones that can be modified according to this list: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=27684

The color consoles, the Pikachu Console, the Gold Console cannot be RGB modified easily.

03 and 04 are all that can be modded in the US. Not a hard mod to do if you're experienced with a soldering iron, I've got the parts laying around in spades.

I keep forgetting that the American systems started with the NUS-CPU-03 revision except for a rare store kiosk model. Speaking of which, APE when I get some extra money I may ask you to have two of my systems RGB modified for me :)

03 has most of the components on the board IIRC but my brain has only been functional for 10 minutes here. 04 doesn't have anything but a compatible DAC.

I'd be happy to do an install, just need to order a few 220uF capacitors.
