Can anybody remember any good rail shooters for the PSX? All I can remember is Omega Boost.

Raystorm is the only other game I can think of with a similar feel.
However its really a 2D shooter with full 3D background elements..still an awesome game though.

I heard Vanark is decent, though I haven't played it. People also seem to like Gamera 2000, a Japan exclusive game. If you count them as rail shooters, both Nanotek Warrior and Internal Section (another import) are pretty good. Another similar game is N2O Nitrous Oxide, but I could never get into that one.

Rail shooters such as Time Crisis and the like? There's Project: Horned Owl which I believe is on rails.

I assume that by rail shooter he means something like Panzer Dragoon

Raystorm wouldn't be on rails per se - ship shoot'em up.
For the US PlayStation Side:
Jupiter Strike (most boring...star fox clone...ever)
N2O (inside a tube)
Nanotek Warrior (literally on a rail!)
NovaStorm (FMV - Scavenger 4 in another country)
Off World Interceptor (Car on rails shooter)
Omega Boost
RayTracers (Car on rails shooter)
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
Cyberspeed (Not a shooter, but you're literally racing while hanging on a rail)
Starblade Alpha (FMV)
Total Eclipse Turbo (3DO Port)
Vanark (another Star Fox like one)
I know import wise that the Gamera PSX game and Galaxian 3 also both fit the requirements.

As far as stuff so far unmentioned, all that's coming to mind are the 3D rail shooting sections in Galaga: Destination Earth and Philosoma.

Six replies in n' no one mentions the most obvious of them all...Elemental Gearbolt! :D

That's because Elemental Gearbolt is a light gun game.

Aren't they both mutually inclusive? The term "rail shooter" does cover both light gun games and shoot 'em ups but I realize now OP wanted the latter. Silly me! :p

Yet Taito's Night Strikers isn't mentioned. It's an import yes and similar to Space Harrier, except you're driving a car which can stay on the road or fly in the air, but it is played pretty much exactly like it's on rails.

Thanks for the replies. Vanark looks promising, but there's less here than I thought. :( It's a shame considering Star Fox 64, Omega Boost, and Panzer Dragoon all did pretty well.

Vanark is enjoyable and relatively cheap. There's a good write up of the game at Hardcore Gaming 101. Check it out.

I heard the PSX Cowboy Bebop game (JP of course) is a decent rail shooter.
