MODS: I'm not sure if this type of question is kosher, so if not, feel free to strike it down - I'm ok with that.

So I've downloaded PBA 2001 from a newsgroup, but I didn't really know what I was doing when I tried to get it. Winrar took the pieces and gave me a .cdi file, which I just tried, unsuccessfully, to burn to a CD-R. The .cdi file is only about 220mb. I'm assuming that's far too small to be a valid Dreamcast game.

I don't want to take too many chances trying this, as I just discovered I have a monthly quota/cap on my newsgroup usage, and it's already at 49% thanks to today's adventures in binaryville.

Can any of you who have successfully downloaded the game, at least verify for me that the image-file either really is about 220mb, or is actually a lot larger?

Thanks.

Yes it's a vaild file. A .cdi image is a DiskJuggler image, you have to use that program to burn the image, it's not an iso. DJ is a real flaky program in my opinion so I like to use a program called CDI2Nero which converts .cdi files to Nero images. I then use Nero to burn the image.

So that's your two choices, get Padus' DJ (there's a free demo) or Ahead's Nero (I think there's a demo) along with the cdi2nero program.

I was using the free downloadable DJ. But the .cdi is only supposed to be about 220mb?

Yeah, that's the size. Here's a page that describes how to use the cdi2nero program. I've had so much more success with Nero than with DJ. DJ has never been able to burn a disc properly on my Win2k machine but it used to work with my Win98se :/

there's also a page in there about burning .cdi images if you want to look at that too :)
