This video talks about the growing senior presence at Japanese arcades. Although it mostly shows them playing coin machines, I suspect this is something we'll see more and more of in the future (even for at home console-playing).

What makes you say that?

The demographics have already been shifting in that direction for decades. The average video game player in America is now in their 30s. I don't see a point where today's gamers suddenly stop playing games.

Old people use to play Wii Sports in the US too.....until they got bored of it like everyone else did.

thats right duke balls of steel

Funny thing is it is illegal to gamble in any sort of way in japan......... but..... most major suppliers of pachinko gaming have a vendor outside the arcade where you can take those balls and exchange them for money basically a loop hole in the system so your not forced to get another giant pikachu from the prize counter :P.

I am not surprised either, the people who are currently in their 50s and 60s didn't grow up playing games like those are in their 20s and 30s did, and it is only reasonable to assume they will continue playing.

It kind of seems as if this video is suggesting yet again that "games are for kids" and so we should be surprised when adults and older people want to play them.
