Hi everyone-

I have recently started to read some 30's-50's Sci-Fi Pulp Fiction. On numerous sites it is stated that the Fallout series is, in part, based on this literature. I was wondering if anyone knew of any specific stories or authors that the creators of Fallout used as inspiration for the series.

Thanks in advance,
chris

I don't know really but I kinda got the feel that was the idea of the games world design and the person who made the Fallout wiki gave the idea of the fallout series plays out the idea of what if certain events that didn't happen actually did happen which would then change the course of history. What we know.. what we use.. technology would be like... what we wear how we act ect ect ect.
Kinda gives a slight feel of those classic 50s early 60s scifi films of what they thought the future was gonna look like. People at the worlds fairs of yesteryear thought the future was gonna look like (look at some of the old car demonstrations and you can understand where some of the designs for the cars came from)

The cars on the billboards of Fallout 3 are based around a concept car created by Ford, the Nucleon.

Now that's interesting: "powered by a small nuclear reactor". So, what could the results be from a high speed collision between two Nucleons?

Well clearly the car would sense that collision was coming and eject the reactor from the car. In which after the reactor was air born it would deploy a small parachute landing it on the ground safely... or through the roof of someone's house, which ever...

well around this time point car companies and government officials from the US department of transportation were experimenting with the idea of a electonic road way that would allow the car basically to drive itself almost rending a collision like that to ever happen... Obviously it never took off the ground
