Just a few notable omissions from the top of my head:
Earthbound - For all the hype, it really does have one of the coolest & most "open" game endings
Lunar: Eternal Blue - EPILOGUE. 'nuff said.
Metroid - It had multiple endings!
Chrono Trigger - Again with the multiple endings... lots and lots of them
Bionic Commando - You get to see Hitler's face "EXPLODE" in slow-mo
Super Mario 2 - It was all a WHAT? :o
Super Mario 3 - Come on... it's the princess and she makes a funny.
L.A. Noire - Character you like less and less throughout the game redeems himself, and you realize how your hard work and sacrifice really was, essentially, in vain. Still sort of stirs my ire.

Absolutely! Lunar:EB has one of THE best endings to a game ever imo. I would also add Snatchers' ending. SO many of the games on that list I would take away including the GTA games. I always felt the endings in all of them were like "Oh well. That's life....The End" and never felt like enough closure for me.

Exactly this. A list like this you'd expect it to be more heavily populated with modern games because they're more cinematic, but for me FF7's ending was one of its weakest aspects, especially compared to VIII's or IX's. Only 2 Zelda games... wtf? And on a personal note, where the fuck is Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap? That ending damn near made me cry when I was 9.

At least Super Metroid was included. Still I couldn't see any adventure games listed, it's hard to beat the ending to Secret of Monkey Island with LeChuck exploding into fireworks.

There are some games with good endings on there but I would say most aren't very good.

Why is KOTOR 1 on there and not KOTOR 2? KOTOR 1's big reveal happened in the middle of the game, not at the ending. KOTOR 2 had a much better ending. Atleast they didn't have Halo 2 on that list or the joke would have been that much more obvious.
