NBA 2K12 GOTY Edition is Best Buy Exclusive: Something to keep an eye on, maybe

I know that it's a sports game, and usually expecting a game to be hard to find before it's out usually means it's going to be as common as dirt, but this could be something interesting for completists or variant hunters.

According to the article, it's a timed exclusive meaning Best Buy will only have the exclusive for a couple of months. After that it will be everywhere. There have been plenty of Gamestop exclusives this generation and a few EA or THQ Store exclusives on collector's editions which have remained exclusive. This is highly unlikely to maintain any kind of value especially given it's a sports game and has already been released.

I didn't catch the "timed exclusive" part, I thought that meant this version was only available for a limited time across the board, not just at BBY.

New version is likely to drop in early October, so I dunno.

October is eight months from now which is a pretty long time considering most games only stay at retail for six months nowadays. This will not be a Best Buy exclusive which pretty much eliminates any chance of this becoming rare. Heck, even if it was Best Buy exclusive, it won't become rare given that they have 852 stores in the United States and a large on-line presence.
