I just picked up my PS Vita today, and turned it on, and as it was booting up with the screen black and blank, it looked like i had some kind of burn in on the screen like you would get on a plasma tv, but when you play it, its not noticable. Then when the screen goes all black for any reason, you see it again...its a line at the top that goes left to right, and a small circle in the bottom center of the screen...Did anyone else have anything similar to this..My Vita is new from Bestbuy...Thanks, any feedback would be great cause im not sure if i should return it or not.

I don't have any screen defects on mine, but from what I'm reading it may be a manufacture issue that is common with OLED screen technology and present in some Vita units.
I see reports of "uneven backplane uniformity" in OLED devices that causes "lines" and "splotches".
Did you purchase your system at a brick/mortar store that you can bring it back to?

I would return it. A Vita is very expensive, you deserve to have a perfect unit for the cost of the system.

Agreed.
Just take it back and get a replacement.
Yeah, definitely return it. That thing costs a pretty penny, you better make sure yours is perfect. Reminds me of the stuck pixel problem on the original PSP. I'd keep returning the damn thing until I got a perfect screen.

Why I never buy launch systems.I'll wait for the slim when the bugs are worked out and it's cheaper

Yeah, can't hurt and the faster you bring it back the less chance of resistance you'll get from the exchange department.

Didn't the PSP-3000 have this problem too? There's this line around the edges of the screen. Not very noticeable in-game, but when the screen is all black you can see it. Sounds similar.

The only one that I was aware of was the different style of LCD that they used that caused scan-line style visual tearing.

from what I understand OLED screens don't use backlight elements like LCD, they illuminate independent of that and the potential issue that happens and may be seen here is the super-thin transistor that sends current to the OLED screen either isn't applied properly to the backplane area or shifted for some reason causing pressure/visible distortion when not illuminated or when dark blacks are displayed on screen.
PSPs used LCD so maybe the LCD matrix lifted from the lighting element around the edges in some 3000 models.

As far as I'm aware, nearly all Vita's have this. Mine has a straight line visible near the bottom when the screen is all black only. A friend of mine has small splotches near the top of his. Nothing affects gameplay.
I'm not saying don't take it back, but don't get your hopes up.

I would take it back for sure. Like others said, this is expensive.

I checked out 2 different store units today at gamestop and they both had the same thing...one unit had it at the top, and the other had it at the bottom..so i think i am just going to keep it..like you said, it does not affect the game in any way.

Mine has this also. Mine go from vertical on the top left of the screen. I didn't think much of since its kind of hard to notice unless your paying close attention when the screen is powered on but not displaying anything. I bought mine from Amazon don't know what I should do. It is not noticeable at all when anything is actually displayed only when there is absolutely nothing on screen which means even black. I'm wondering if its actually a defect or its something guaranteed to come with OLED territory.
