Hey guys, I'm planning on importing a 3DS by the holidays, just wondering how you like it and can you connect with US 3DS users to play games and can you download Japanese DLC and games from the market?

Just placed an order for

Ice White 3DS
Biohazard: Revelations
Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Limited Edition
Final Fantasy: Theathrythm
Senran Kagura
Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun
Circle Pad Pro

No idea about the connection thing, but I'm 90% sure you can download Japanese stuff as long as you have a Japanese account.

Cool! If you get a chance to test the theory, it would be cool if you posted it here :)

I've had a Japanese 3DS since July of last year, so I can definitely answer these questions for you.

All 3DS systems are 100% region locked to their region of purchase, save for of course playing regular DS games (those are still region free). This includes accessing the e-shop: If you have a Japanese 3DS, you can only get into the Japanese E-shop, etc. Unfortunately this also means that you can NOT do Download Play on the same game between a Japanese and US 3DS (for example). However you're not restricted from playing with players from other regions in games with online play functionality.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing...does that answer your questions?
