Well for starters I’m a big Nintendo fan. I have always wanted a Nintendo World Championships gold and gray cartridge, so I decided to make me a set from other games. I made a few from some undesirable titles. I have about 5 of each and they will include a copy of the NWC Certificate and notification letter. Please note these are custom made and would be a great display piece for the true NES Fan. If you would like one just send me an email **EMAIL REMOVED** I will take silent auction bids for a few weeks or so and the top 10 bids gets one. Just let me know if you want gold, gray, or both. I will provide tracking and insurance on every purchase. I have been an active seller on Ebay for over 10 years and I will only accept Paypal or Money Order. Ill be posting this on a few other blogs and forums also. Thanks

Yikes. Are these made to be indistinguishable from the real things?

You're opening up a big can of something with these nearly identical reproductions. Be aware that you might get a lot of heat for this.

Why only make five? Make a boatload and sell them for a reasonable price. Ethically speaking, it would be a good idea if there was something small, but permanent that distinguished the cart from the real deal.

I agree. the only thing i could think of would be the word "Reproduction" engraved into the front plastic piece. I would buy a set, but I'm not a fan of "Faking the Funk". ;)

Nah I would put the word reproduction on the back for visuals' sake. Fool your friends for a minute you know?

How many of us have friends outside of forums who would even know what the 1990 Nintendo World Championships Gold & Gray Cartridges are? :|

I know a lot of people who are familiar with the NWC carts, and I don't think they even know that Digital Press exists.
As for the repros themselves, I'm cool with it as long as there is some clear way to tell that they're not the real thing, like what BomberHead and Rickstilwell1 said about engraving the carts. You may have the best intentions, but the people who buy them may not.
EDIT: Also, your post title is very misleading. That tends to make people at least a little suspicious.

Nice, maybe now I'll be able to get one for cheap since nobody will know if the originals are legit or not thanks to these high quality bootlegs.

Really guys? I don't think a repro with stickers for dip-switches are really going to fool anyone.

First off, silent auctions are LAME.
Second, this is not the FS forum, and I'm assuming you don't have access yet, so...IBTL.

Those dipswitches are stickers?
<checks again>
Holy crap, you're right.
No thanks. This offers nothing over the retroUSB repro which functions just like the original NWC carts and is clearly not trying to fake anyone out.

You've piqued my curiosity. How many friends do you have that are retro gamers?

First, this isn't the Buy/Sell forums. If you were to start selling things, references like eBay ID's and other forums would be a huge help to both buyer and seller.
Second this higher caliber repro is still going to bring alot of heat even if it's got a stickered dipswitch.
A lesson to all, NES stuff has broached the let's make very hard to tell fakes and let people get shammed a whole helluva lot easier.
This thread is done.
