That merits at least a reserved "Yee-haw." Engine's VP of development Ruud van de Moosdijk told Nintendo World Report that the downloadable six-shooter shooter will be released "very soon." Engine tracked down publisher Digital Leisure and asked for the rights to create a 3DS version.

You might be thinking that it seems prohibitively expensive to remaster a random arcade game like that, full of real recorded video, in 3D. You're probably right. Whatever the reason, Engine is opting not to use stereoscopic 3D for the port. " "There's really no 3D in the 3DS version," van de Moosdijk said, "because how were you gonna do that?"http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif (http://www.joystiq.com)FMV light gun game Mad Dog McCree coming to 3DS (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/10/fmv-light-gun-game-mad-dog-mccree-coming-to-3ds/) originally appeared on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) on Sat, 10 Mar 2012 22:30:00 EST. This has to be a joke.

Why?

Digital Leisure has been releasing versions of Mad Dog (and other similar FMV games produced in that era) on modern consoles and portables devices.

Yes, the game is hokey visually, but it works fine with a Wiimote or on a touch-screen device.

There's just no reason for this to be a 3DS game when the DS could handle it just fine.
Besides, there's a big difference in the expectations people have for a retail 3DS game and those for a smartphone game that costs a couple of bucks.

Wait, this isn't a 3DSWare title? What a waste, when was the last time they actually made a new game?

It's downloadable.

Says so in the article.

It probably won't cost more than $5 or $10.

The DS is dead is why. No point to push it to the DSi store when you could push it to the 3DS store. It'll be accessable to more that way.

I'm fine with my Wii copy. There is no reason to buy a download copy of this.
