Went to the local game store, found this setup for $52:

An Astrocade, 30 games, $52!

There's some interesting carts that came with it:

The guide doesn't mention any sort of non-Bally version of Cosmic Raiders. Is this a new one?

Also in the guide, it states for Astro Battle that the "title change [from Space Invaders] may have occured before the acquisition". It looks like it might be true. This cart has a copyright of Bally on it, instead of Astrocade.

All in all, these are the games that came with it:

Bally Basic (x2)
Panzer Attack w/Red Baron
Tornado Baseball, Tennis, Hockey and Handball
Letter Match, Spell n Score, Crosswords
280 Zzzap and Dodgem
Galactic Invasion
Football
Elementary Math and Bingo Math
Space Fortress (x2)
Amazing Maze/Tic Tac Toe
Artillary Duel
Sea Wolf and Bombardier
Blackjack, Poker and Acey-Deucey
Dog Patch
Bally Pin
Clowns and Brickyard
Solar Conqueror
Star Battle
The Incredible Wizard (x2)
Astro Battle (x2)
Grand Prix
Pirates Chase
Cosmic Raiders (x2)
Soccer/Dribbling

Hmmmm.. how about.. no? :)

What was interesting about the whole thing, is when I saw it in the display case, I thought it only had 15 games with it. When the cashier took it out, and lifted the removable lid, there was another 15! This is, so far, the only Astrocade I've seen in the wild.

Ooh, Solar Conquerer! It's one of the rarest- and best!- games on the system!
Yep, I'd say that was a pretty good deal. On a related note, I picked up an Astrocade and a small handful of commons for four bucks. It even came with a warranty card and, er, a Christmas card given to the original owners of the system. I'm not sure how I feel about that. :/

Awesome find. I remember playing that system at my Aunts every time we went to her camp. I think she still has it too. Next time I see her I think I will ask if I can have it... :D

Actually, the Action Graphics cartridges might be prototypes or samples... Soccer wasn't released, right? I've never heard of "Dribbling" -- are there two games on there, or were they just not sure they could call it Soccer? :-)

Nice find, especially with those!

BTW, make sure you run that thing well-ventilated (i.e. not on a carpet), as those units can burn out pretty easy I hear...

Your right, Soccer/Dribbling his in the Proto section of DP7.

Look like icbrkr found some pretty rare stuff.

Yep, I went and read the FAQ for it, and it's being ventelated while being used. I did find Soccer/Dribbling under "prototypes" in the Digitpress guide. I didn't find, however, any reference towards a newer version of Cosmic Raiders. Any ideas if this is a true sample/demo/prototype?

I think you gotta ask this to Bob Fabris, Adam Torionfo, Michael White or Joe Santulli. These are the people who did the Astrocade section.
