You should do reviews of some of these games. Just looking at the cartridges isn't much fun.

too lazy, its more or less just to display the crazy label art and unique titles. I may add a few quick reviews for the more unique games.

Hey! Since you don't want to review the games, why not record yourself playing them on youtube, providing you have the necessary equipment.

Actually it's open for anyone to contribute, you could add missing entries if you wanted to make it more complete.

Yeah....maybe one day Id contribute, for now Ill just post pics on my blog with short explanations. :) Most of the stuff Im posting is well known anyway, or just a hack of a well known game. I mainly just want to display the weird and unique labels they usually have!

I am going to attempt some videos, only thing is i do not have a tripod so i need a friend to come over and hold the camera as I play the games.

Screenshots and/or videos would be cool. Invest in a capture device instead of having a camera pointed at your TV. The Famicom pirate scene is vast so it's always interesting to see all the different hacks and HK originals.

Back in the late 80's, i had a friend in school who would go to Japan for the summer. I heard about the Japanese version of SMB2 being different then the USA version. So I begged my mom to have my friend by a Famicom system just so I can play the Japanese version of SMB2. I didnt know at the time but SMB2 was on their disk system. When my friend returned from Japan, he got me the Famicom and SMB2 on a cart not disk. the label was cut and it also looked like a crappy photocopy. I'll take a pic of it if I ever dig out and you can see it.
BTW, also unknowingly at the time, I could have just bought a famicom to NES cart converter instead of buying the Famicom system. DOH!!

Thats cool, Id love to see your version. Theres quite a few label variations......and thanks for the story, I love hearing about how games were imported before the days of the internet.

Here I go, picking nits. I noticed that you had the game BB Car on there labeled as an original Pirate title. If it is an original title, it's not a pirate, is it?

I think "original pirate title" refers to unlicensed games created by the companies that usually pirate other company's games. Of course, these games get pirated as much as licensed games, leading to many, many, many different cartridges with many, many, many different labels.

Hit the nail on the head. That is the first version of BB Car pictured and is an "Original" title from a company notorious for pirating official games. Hence "Original Pirate Title" I think that works best.
